Earliest I've tagged a buck is Oct. 20. I've always wanted to poke one the first week, but never wanted to be tagged out early! I'd love to this year because I have some buddies that I can hop in the tree with the camera... it's almost as much fun shooting them with a lens... almost.

I sometimes grab red oak branches with BIG leaves... get them when the leaves are still green. Zip tie them to the platform underneath so they hang out a ways... amazing what breaking up a platform outline can do to keep you concealed!

I think it would work. I've seen deer bed against the EW and I know deer love to bed in sorghum fields. As with anything, the question is always pros vs. cons... weighing that against the other uses for that acre.

Oh I've seen it and heard it as well :D I'm not talking sheer numbers of big deer, rather, the very few world class deer out there. In the last .... 10 years maybe... what do you think the numbers of 200+ that have been shot by a gun vs. a bow? A quick search at the deer classic results...

I don't have the figures (impossible to get the true figures), but I'd almost argue that more giant, top-end deer are killed with a bow than with a gun. If YOU (anyone) sets out to target one singular, specific deer to kill with a bow or gun, then I could see the argument that YOUR odds are...
