No till drill, planting & details - video

One thing to consider too, is that a lot of no-till rental opportunities through Pheasants Forever chapters, NRCS offices, and others for those that don't want to bite off the price tag.

    Pottawattamie County

I think #3 is huge. People like to point at one thing but it's more complex than that. "Cleaner" (poor choice of word) agriculture not only limits and fragments habitat, but also makes it easier for predators to be effective. #2 increases mortality from #1, #1 and #2 impact the rebound from #3...

    What's next for Republicans?

Since everyone hit the key points on others, I'll weigh in on this one. We need a leader to support ENDING the war in Ukraine, period. Regardless of concessions. The longer we "support" the war financially (and you're high if you don't think we have American troops on the ground), it's just...

    MINERAL TO PUT OUT NOW…

I've heard that before- the water from rainfall mixed with mineral or feed will get rancid, mold, etc. That's why I've never used a tub. Chad, I don't want to be Dudly Do-right warden here, but if the water is going from the tub with mineral, then running out of the drain and into the soil, I...

    MINERAL TO PUT OUT NOW…

How did you like the plastic tubs? I've always thought about that for places I'm not 100% sure I want a permanent mineral site or one I can quickly/easily remove. Does water pooling in the tub cause an issue?

    MINERAL TO PUT OUT NOW…

I had deer and coons using wind and rain but I mixed it with either a flavored mineral or a trophy rock. chadw, I cover mine with a pallet or two, big tarp, and rocks on the corners/edges. Are you digging out your mineral sites?

I'm just south of Pott co and it's been bad. Zero doe harvest during shotgun 1 and zero antlerless tags will hopefully help bring numbers back up.

    Deer Reacting to Cell Cams

Refreshed some batteries and pulled SD cards yesterday and this was definitely on my mind. All of my cameras are either in a box or hung high now. Another thing I thougth about, the big buck I referenced in my earlier reply, when he spooked it was usually within a few days of putting the camera...

    Deer Reacting to Cell Cams

I'm torn on why but some bucks really do seem to notice. But it seems like every buck is different and every camera is different. Putting cuddebacks higher and/or in lock boxes seems to help. Browning cams I haven't had much issue with deer noticing. For two years I had a 180"+ buck that would...

    That's a fair assessment!

    What's next for Republicans?

The Tulsi and RFK Jr addition is huge. In 2016 Trump ran on draining the swamp and then appointed Pompeo and Bolton to his staff...talk about swamp creatures. That and the spending is the only thing I disliked about his first term. I'm more optimistic if he can keep these two close and not push...

    Regs Dialogue with MDC Director

A NR draw is certainly not out of the question. Nebraska moved all NR tags to a draw this year, previously it had only been mule deer units and now it's all deer tags. Most of the whitetail tags did not require a point and some had leftover tags that were then OTC but now that they've capped NR...

Tell me why we should shoot more does

Sure, if you think you could peel back not only the straight wall rifles but also the rifled barrels. Personally, I don't see a huge difference in capability between a 350 legend and a scoped 12ga with a sabot slug and rifled barrel. It's not the vast difference of an open sighted blackpowder...

Tell me why we should shoot more does

My statement isn't anything novel but a reminder that we should consider ourselves lucky in Iowa to (1) not have a firearm season in Nov and (2) not have to deal with unlimited crossguns in archery seasons. Those two things alone are the only thing keeping Iowa from going down the tubes in 1-2...

Tell me why we should shoot more does

Agreed. For a buck to have the 180+ genetic potential, they are going to be very impressive 3 year olds and with cell cams those bucks are all the more likely to get targeted. The bucks get high graded at a young age.

    Wow Just Wow....... Land Prices

Wouldn't be far at all. It's my understanding that both those sheds and the 200 typical that was poached about 10 years back came from the south side of the lake.

    What's next for Republicans?

I'll preface this that I agree with the insanity that Harris is even a candidate after her miserable 2020 primary and abysmal job as VP. It's shamefully anti-democratic that she was just crowned the D nominee. That being said if you look at polling objectively, so far she has won the "VP pick...

    MINERAL TO PUT OUT NOW…

I tried that this year and I would agree, it doesn't have a lot of attraction. Thoughts on a way to increase attraction? Molasses maybe?

2025 Iowa Deer Season Regulations Survey

I think they picked some of the most discussed issues. I've said it could've been structured differently to make it more effective, but what other topics would you have wanted to see? What don't you want "pushed"? Also this didn't go out to just ISC members, anyone who wanted to answer the poll...
