    Easton Axis Arrows

Absolutely love the axis arrows. Two does on Saturday morning proved their capabilities. The only complaint I had was the arrow passed through the deer so fast that it didn't leave any blood on my arrow. LOL That was alright since both does went down 20 yds from where they were shot. I'm...

    Doe harvest goals

I would like to shoot for 75, on 1300 acres. This will almost be impossible but I'm chipping at it slowly. I would be happy to see 25 - 30 doe harvests come off that land this year. It's more attainable. BT

    Doe Harvests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm curious to see how many Iowa archers have harvested a doe this year. If you have taken a doe this year or harvest one later in the season, I would love to hear about. I would also love to see pictures and hear stories about the harvest(s). I need a group of doe photo's for QDMA...

    Central Iowa QDMA Inaugural Meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to say thanks to all of those who made it out to the meeting. I think we have a better understanding on what needs to be done and the means of doing it. Dan Lokken, midwest regional director was very informative and took the time to listen to our questions and suggestions. I...

    Anybody else seen this?????????

I don't understand it... With so many other food sources, they choose the rape seed. I've heard of guys who swear that it takes time for deer to enjoy the stuff. Definitely not the case in my situation. I suppose I shouldn't complain, just have to plant more next year. BT

    Central Iowa QDMA Inaugural Meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Outstanding, Sorry about the trip OC but your company would be missed if you didn't show up. The meeting will consist of a general overview of what QDMA is all about and meeting all the members of Central Iowa QDMA. Regardless if you are a member or even interested in QDMA, it's worth...

    Anybody else seen this?????????

I went to my farm tonight to find my 2 acres of dwarf essex rape demolished by the deer herd. Last week it was about 8 inches tall, and tonight the whole field is browsed almost to the ground. I also have two acres of oats adjoining the rape, 5 acres of alfalfa and 150 acres of soybeans in...

    First bow kill

Mr. Pro 3D had to shoot twice??????????????? I thought Zach was a better shot than that. LOL Congrats on your first! Like everyone said, the first is always the best. I bet the old man was pumped. Congratulations, BT

    Central Iowa QDMA Inaugural Meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Problem. I will be glad to ask Dan your questions and I will post answers for you. I know QDMA only receives a portion of local money. I can't tell you exactly how much, but I will find out. I will have your answers posted as soon as I can. Thanks for the interest. BT

Thanks for responses guys, I have oats now but would like to switch to something a little taller, more seclusive. I might have to try some of the blue. Thanks BT

Pharmer, I would like to plant some natives next year for cover. Do you have any suggestions? Can be tall grasses or nasty and thick. Thanks, BT

    Nice 10 Sept 9 2004

I honestly think it is the same deer. Both racks are shaped and curved with the same geometric shape. The face is proportionate, and so is the belly. I shot a buck last year that was around 6-1/2yrs (taxidermist aged), the year before it was a typical 8 similiar to yours, it sprouted 1-1/2...

Thoughts on QDM (Quality Deer Management) in Iowa?????????????

Very true Q, It's always the same story, different year. To some people size/sex has no importance. Those are the people that we need to work on. You have to remember that it is their choice to shoot whatever they want as long as their tag permits. I don't think these people have a strong...

    Unusually clean coyote?

    Give him a couple years...

Vman, Those two pics came from the new one with the board that you sent me. Definitely a solid investment. Thanks again. I have two other deer with similiar genes that have never stumbled across my cams yet. I think one will be 4.5 and the other is older than dirt. It's awesome watching...

Thoughts on QDM (Quality Deer Management) in Iowa?????????????

Great responses. I agree 100% with what you guys posted. QDM lies in the eye of the beholder. There is a different QDM strategy for every person and or tract of land. In my opinion, you don't even need to own land to practice it. If you set goals, and somewhat accomplish them, you are...
