I know this isn't a financial advice forum, but I know there are a lot of land investors on here so figured I'd reach out. I sold my first rec land property this Summer, and decided not to do the 1031 exchange as I didn't have that big of a long-term capital gains profit (owned for 3+ years)...
I'm looking for ideas on how to clean out the fire channel of my breech plug. I'm not sure what got in there from the primer but I can't push it out with a needle, nipple pic, shank of a tiny flyfishing hook, etc. I've tried soaking it in Hoppe's Solvent for two days, tried another few days...
I'm starting to lean this way as well, looking back five years ago I didn't see any fewer deer or smaller bucks with a white or red flash camera. Sure they would look at the camera more often but didn't seem to change patterns.
Man, there is something to be said for having significant tonnage of palatable green winter rye on January 6th. The partners of rye in Dbltree's mix are long gone due to over grazing or frost, but the rye keeps chugging along providing substantial forage in 5 degree temps... Not to mention...
I have had TERRIBLE luck with the Browning Spec-Ops. I bought two of them to try out after reading amazing reviews for the price. I can honestly say that I do not have a single night time picture of a buck that I can even discern how many points (if the animal is moving). Daytime pics are...
I also had a heck of a deer this week (4.5 year old 10 point ~150+") at 40 yards broadside and my smokepole didn't want "smoke". He gave me time and I tried 5 primers with no luck. He walked out to 80 yards and I decided to try to push that powder and bullet out and reload, only to be unable to...
When have you guys historically noticed bucks returning to their summer grounds? I had 28 different bucks on cam most of the summer that all but disappeared in late October. I'm hoping for some late season reunions!
I was given a CutCo hunting knife a few years back, I would cry if I lost it. Lifetime warranty and free sharpening (haven't used that service yet). I've done roughly 10 deer and a few hogs and it is as sharp as day one. Thought it was a gimmick when I first got it...till I cut that first...
What an amazing man with an everlasting legacy. My deepest condolences for the Knox family and friends. Paul touched my life and his guidance will be carried on for the rest of my life. I think it is safe to say that many of Paul's "virtual friends" will be thinking of him from now on as they...
Just six year old kids :). Jokes, only jokes!
Let me ask you this...if you had an un-collared, feral dog roaming your land and you bumped into it at dusk, would you rather it be a pit bull or a coon hound?
How much are they? If I were you I would go on eBay and buy a used iPad 1 for around 100 bucks and get an SD card adapter and you have that giant screen to review pics in the field. Plus you can load games on it for those long sits in the stand.
I've had a pitbull on my trail cameras twice on this new farm I just picked up. It doesn't have a collar and there are no farmhouses especially close. I imagine it is a dumped dog. If I see it in person the decision will be easy for me. I can only imagine if my kids were playing around the...
My oh my, when will these deer farms be a memory...
