    Twist of Fate

I was getting fairly demoralized with the lack of shooter bucks I was getting on my trail cameras this year. The past two years I’ve had cameras, it seemed I’d have a decent buck show up every now & then, but this year there’s been nothing since mid-August. With that in mind, I really didn’t...

    My Daughter's First!

Thanks everyone- she's still on cloud 9 and says thank you all of you as well! A little more to add to the story- I hadn't went over with her what was going to happen with everything after she got a deer. So after we got home Sunday night I was skinning it out so I could get it quartered up...

    My Daughter's First!

It's been an exciting youth season with some deer too close (she couldn't get up high enough to get the gun pointed down far enough with the rail of the box blind), some deer too far, getting busted and hitting a doe last week we didn't recover :(. But we'd had a great time through it all & she...

    Lighted nocks or not???

If they're that sung, put a cloth around the nock to pad it and lightly & carefully turn it & work it out with a pliers. Grabbing ahold of it with a pliers & ripping em out might cause damage!

    Buck to Doe Ratio Question

Central IA, your answer makes scientific sense to me. However from a hunting perspective, maybe I'm dense, but I still think I'd rather have more does on the ground I hunt than less when the rut hits. Not to be sexist, but I think of it as a college bar scene. If there a lots of women all...

    Lighted nocks or not???

I use NockTurnals too. I haven't found that they effect accuracy at all. Plus they're easy to install, idiot proof as far as lighting up (which is nice for some of us, myself included ), easy to turn off & the battery life is awesome. I'll never say never, but I really can't imagine...

    Buck to Doe Ratio Question

I've always heard & read that you want to keep the buck to doe ratio 'in check' and thin down the does so there aren't way more does than bucks (1:1 or something close to that comes to mind?), but I've never really heard why, and if I did, I forgot. Can somoene please explain this to me...

Muzzle loader bullet hard to push

I switched to Barnes Spit-Fire TEZ's and found they load a lot easier in my TC. They're a little spendy, but they load & shoot great & from what I've read from people who use Barnes bullets on here, they do a great job bringing down the deer too! I also use Blackhorn 209 powder, which makes a...

    great gun rest for youth

Well that's pretty nifty! Can you guys that have a Bog-Pod tell me exactly what is "the unique quick change head system of the BOG-POD® tripod shooting sticks"? I've got a Primos Trigger stick tripod and the head screws off of it, which exposes a threaded receiver that you can put a camera...

    Luckiest Guy on the site

Counting my blessings...... Yesterday my daughter & I went out to make the final preparations for youth season on an elevated box blind on the ground we hunt. The blind was built by another person that no longer hunts the property 10 years ago and I have since acquired the rights to hunt the...

    Blackhorn 209 vs. Triple 7

YES!! I've hunted with a muzzleloader for 20+ years and have used all the 'other stuff' and Blackhorn 209 is the best thing to happen to muzzleloading since in-line/209 ignition! The ONLY thing that would be better is if it came in pellet form, but I measure out some charges before heading...

    What weight broadhead?

My setup is fine. To be honest, the reason I'm asking is that I've got a sporting goods business & starting to carry broadheads & I'm wondering what distribution of which weights to carry. From what I'm seeing a 100 & 125 will suit me well and doesn't look like many people shoot lighter than...

    What weight broadhead?

Just curious- What weight broadhead do you use? Any particular reason why? I use 100 gr. From what I've read, for my draw weight, it's light enough to fly well but has enough energy to pack a punch.

How many of you have killed bucks you have trail cam pics of?

2009- The first year I ran trail cameras. I wouldn't even have been hunting this farm had I not got the pics of him. He walked within 20 yards the first night I sat in the stand & is my biggest buck to date.

    Weird Cam Problem freaky

I'm a bit stunned by this.....I had the same thing happen to 2 of my cameras on the same farm right around the same time. I switched them out & came back 2 weeks later (last Sunday) & one of those was fried too and it had even cooled down when the 2nd one died. Something strange is afoot in...

    Help with Scope!

Weaver Grand Slam rings are a very high quality ring. You didn't say what ML you bought, but if you bought a TC Omega or Encore, TC makes a good quality 'Weaver Style' base too. This is a good thread with good info.....I've never understood people who spend tons of money on clothes, stands...

    Which Full Body Target?

Do you guys know- what's the difference between the "Full Rut" and the standard "Glendel Buck"? I know the size & vital area is a little bigger, but is there a difference other than that (and the price)? I was originally thinking of one of the Glendel targets, but they had a few...

    Which Full Body Target?

I'm in the market for a full body deer target & would like some opinions & reviews. One thing I'm definitely looking for is easy arrow removal & ideally a replacable vital core.
