My muzzleoader buck from last night!!

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Helluva buck, Sask! Great mass and really nice, symmetrical typical frame. You're right, that boy's gonna score real well! Impressed & Inspired, >>--Ron--<>

    Same area again tonight???

I'd leave it alone myself. Since it's always been a productive spot, it will be again....but by spooking the bucks there last night you may want to let them get comfortable there again before hunting it. If you don't let it "rest", they may still come back tonite, BUT will be looking for you...

    Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, Congrats Sask!! You keep it up with all of these giant trophy pics and I'm gonna have to get a bigger MONITOR!! (I hate to say I told ya so, but I did say we would be seeing another HERO shot before too long after the Pike!!) >>--Ron--<>

    Stinkin BUGS!

Boatman, Look into getting a Thermacell: http://www.mosquitorepellent.com/ Amazing unit...no mess, no odor, and it WORKS!! I put it to the test on a Spring bear hunt and could barely see the bait thru the bugs.....but didn't have any around me!! My guide and the others and camp couldn't...

    The Rut

Now if I can be serious (I know I can do it) the actual RUT generally means a big drop-off in buck sightings for me. I much prefer the chase phase before the does are ready (Pre-Rut)and the last flurry of activity as the last few remaining does that haven't been bred yet come back into estrus...

    The Rut

Hey Fletch, Appears we're suffering from similar symptoms! About the only difference I see is I usually "grunt" a few times when anyone bothers me this time of year. If I ever got to the point to where I to start "snort-wheezin'" they better hightail it.....'cause all hell's about to bust...

Need Opinions about a Double Bull

I shoot my 64" recurve out of mine (recurve model) sitting on one of the Double bull folding chairs. No problem- works fine, and the chair fits nicely in the bag as well. I highly recommend one of the bowholders though, much better than laying your bow down or leaning up against the blind...

    A Saskatchewan September Weekend

Hey Sask, Crappin' yer pants is a nasty habit to get into at yer age...and so is showing pics like that to me when I can be there to slap Ya on the back and say "Way to go, you lucky S.O.B.!!!" DAMN, am I envious! That is one awesome fish, and here's hopin' you get to smash a big ol'...

Need Opinions about a Double Bull

Hey Rack, Definetly go with the brown...the green was offered primarily in response to Turkey hunters who wanted to better match the Spring foliage fearing the "not-colorblind" vision of turkeys. That being said, I've had over 30 gobblers shot in the last 3 years from my Deception Brown Double...

    Early Season Success!

HOLY COW! If it needs that many Limb savers, that thing must sound like a shotgun going off w/o 'em! I think I'll stick to my recurves barely audible "thump"! Cool trophy though...our possums up here go "au natural" and pay for it! My dog had one the other day which would have loved some...

    What kind of...

Oh that's just GREAT, Fishbonker!! I'm a chronic insomniac as it is...now I've got to worry about the short time I do manage to sleep, having NIGHTMARES about you and your adventures with ol' #3!!!! I'd tell Ya to "stick" yer duct tape technique...but that would be redundant!! And to think...

    Harvest photo tips...?

I'll second that...WOW, Liv! Excellent tips! Only things I might add is.. 1) Using glass eyes from taxidermy supply co. to avoid the "dead-reflective stare) and 2) Wearing camo gloves. Sometimes your hands can take away from the antlers. It's usually better if they are less obtrusive and...

    First bow kill

Congratulations! You may shoot bigger, but you'll never shoot one BETTER. Nothing will ever match the feeling of that first success! Here's to many more close seconds though! And never forget.... Have Fun & Hunt Safe, >>--Ron--<>

    NAW Scrape Hunting

You're just too smart for me, Kat! Actually, it was never a "secret" at all, but how many guys do you know that actually go out in the pouring rain and are IN their stands when it stops?? Darn few! However, since I have been and it's worked so well more than a few times...I may have left out...

    What kind of...

I yield to the expert...on Moth anatomy! I told it the way I heard it, but now that I think about it- Kat's version definetly makes more sense! I think I'll quit the comedy and go sharpen some broadheads now..... >>--Ron--<>

    NAW Scrape Hunting

My next hunt is for the author of that article who gave out one of my biggest SECRETS!!! It really does work, but be sure to be there right as the rain stops as he says, especially if the scrape(s) you're watching are located in/near heavy cover. (Which are usually the best, anyway) They...

Speaking of scents, smells & odors....Does anyone here know what Mothballs smell like?

    What kind of...

A shower before EVERY hunt w/ H.S. Scent-A-Way soap & shampoo takes care of most of the human odor (including the "scent vent") followed by an application of SURE unscented anti-perspirant under the arms AND on the feet. Less perspiration=dryer socks & feet which means WARMER feet! One...
