I don't see why not? If you run into a CO with an attitude problem they may give you a hard time but as long as you aren't in possession of a deer or they can't prove you shot a deer with the rifle there's nothing they can charge you with.
Sat over a turnip plot tonight, saw a dozen or so antler less and 5 small bucks, 1 and 2 year olds. A little harassing by the 2 year old bucks but nothing major
Im going to be trying a different public spot this weekend. I think the spot I have been concentrating on is just getting too much pressure and all the deer are staying in the refuge. The new spot has a small turnip plot so I figure they should be hitting it hard after this storm comes...
I've seen more hunters than deer this weekend. On the walk out this morning therr were a couple freshly skinned racoon carcasses next to the trail. That could explain why there's no deer in this timber. Gotta love public land
Agreed. If you hit vital anatomy in the neck he will be dead within 100 yds.
Sat this morning for only my second hunt of the year, only saw one 2 year old buck. No sign of urgency or rutting activity
On kid duty tonight so took them on a quick drive at sunset. Lots of deer in the fields with a little chasing but nothing major. One 3 year old 10pt was pushing a doe pretty good and chasing off younger bucks. That doe was obviously heating up
Somebody better light a fire under their butts. They're playing nervous and tight this series, completely opposite of what they have been doing all year
Get that man some more ice cream sammiches!
Seriously though, with the way this team has been playing in the second half of the season and the attitude that Joe has instilled in them, I think it will be very difficult for another team to take a 5 or 7 game series from them. Will be fun to watch!
Right now their only concern is food, and there is plenty of it available. They won't be hitting bean fields anymore after they turn yellow until late season. They will do some feeding in corn fields but best bet early season is acorns and clover. Mature bucks will be hesitant to feed in open...
