    Youth tags?

That sounds right for hunting alone. I saw in the regs that if you were born after a certain date you needed to be hunter ed certified to buy a hunting license, but didn't know if that applied to a youth deer tag since the youth doesn't require a general hunting license.

    Youth tags?

Not to hijack the thread, but does the youth need to have hunter safety certification to get a tag?

    Well crap

They definitely have some options in the middle infield but with Torres a few years out I would be hesitant to get rid of both Castro and Baez. I would be surprised if Theo makes a big deal and trades away some of our prospects that he is so proud of stocking, it all depends on if they want to...

    Well crap

Castro I'm okay with but not Baez quite yet. He was starting to show promise again at AAA before he went to the DL, so hopefully he will turn it around. He will probably hit for the same crappy average as Castro with more pop, but I would take his glove over Castro any day of the week. I...

    Your Public Land Experience?

I am close to giving up on trying to find private ground to hunt. It is getting increasingly difficult to find quality private ground that you don't have to pay out the .... to lease. Respecting the landowners property and lending a helping hand doesnt work anymore, and if you don't have the...

    Military... considering retiring in IA

Daniel, I quickly skimmed this whole thread and thought I would give my input. For a little background, I have lived my entire life in Iowa and have been bow hunting for 15 years. I have never lived or hunted in the areas of the state that are considered "the best of the best", so you have an...

    CWD Vaccine??

In order for herd immunity to occur, an estimated 80-90% (depending on the source, and assuming vaccines actually work) of the population would need to be immunized. 10% would do nothing to prevent outbreaks

rock climbing harness vs full body

I made the switch during the season this year, have only had a few hunts with the rc harness but I like it so far. Light weight, comfortable, I wore it underneath my bibs and couldn't even tell it was on while walking to the stand. I tie off with just enough slack to be able to stand and...

How are the shot gunners doing?

Thanks for the info. I happened to make a poor shot, most likely non-lethal, on a very good buck while bowhunting around ledges so I've been keeping an eye and ear open to see if he got shot or found by the orange army. Hopefully he survived or there will be a few still around for late season.

How are the shot gunners doing?

I don't have anything to add that hasn't already been said, so back to the topic....anybody have any reports from Boone county? I haven't heard anything around here

Cross Bows in Iowa....? I hope not

I agree with Sligh. For me, it's not as much of an argument of whether it compares to the "purity" of archery, it's more about the number of hunters that would flood in to the first archery season and its affect on population and land access. Right as we speak i'm sure there are countless...

    Aiming issue

This exactly. The difference between 10 and 20 shouldn't be that much pin wise. Its easy to forget form when you have a chip shot and have to shoot at a steep angle

    Predators in the stand

Are you in Davenport? I used to see a ton of coyotes while hunting on the west side when I lived there.

    Absolutly Disgusted

That sucks. Good thing you noticed it before it was too late. I had a similar situation with an anti neighbor a few years back. He cut a couple straps on my sticks mostly but not completely through so they would break. I don't understand why anybody would try to do bodily harm over hunting

    scrapes

Scrapes are my main focus for camera locations when they are active. I try to look for a bigger "community scrape" that gets hit by multiple bucks cruising through as opposed to smaller scrapes that a buck may have made quick while on a stroll and doesn't get hit again. I also like to set the...
