Thanks for sharing the info, but what I think means is NRs are buying land for hunting and not killing does. Not anti-hunters per se but anti-herd control. I'd like to know how they figure if land is being purchased by antis. Color me skeptical.

SSB 3074 A tax/ways and means bill that affects IWILL and the trust fund

This bill does indeed increase sales tax and therefore fund the trust. It also has language that seems to change how the trust would be administered. The bill seems to have a broad base of support when looking at lobbyist declarations. There has been a Ways and Means subcommittee appointed and...

My understanding from trying to read the fine print is no, nor would NRLOs getting a tag reduce the number of tags available for other NR.

Damn. I wonder when that changed. In the past they never registered for or against anything. Thanks for pointing that out. Everybody knew where they stood, they just couldn't make it public. A new director, the old lobbyist got promoted and a new lobbyist took over. I have not met Todd but I...

HF 2121Tax holiday for gun sales

There is also a bill that would exempt "prepper" stuff from sales tax during the sales tax holiday in August. Here is a link to that bill: <Prepper tax holiday> There is a long list of stuff that would apply if this was passed.

The DNR will not register as anything but undecided. They only register to make it "legal" for the lobbyist to give information to and answer questions from legislators about any bills of interest to the DNR.

HF 2118 Protects wolves, black bears and mountain lions

She is my rep. I've gone to several of her listening post/meet the constituents type meetings. One of them I went to I was talking hunting issues and I could tell I was upsetting the only other person sitting there. I was almost done with my spiel when Representative Donohue reached over and...

HF 2118 Protects wolves, black bears and mountain lions

This bill removes wolves from the list of furbearing animals and makes it illegal to shoot wolves, bears and mountain lions. Link: <HF 2118> Another section of the bill would direct all civil penalties from killing non-game animals into the wildlife trust fund.

SSB 3074 A tax/ways and means bill that affects IWILL and the trust fund

This is a 118 page bill that covers a lot of ground on a lot of different tax topics. I haven't figured out for sure what it actually does to funding the trust, it doesn't appear to be raising the sales tax it may be changing allocations for where the money would go it the sales tax is...

    HSB 609 Hunting turkey with a .410

Good point. The bill uses the term "shotgun" and I think this precludes the use of a "handgun" ie: pistol or revolver. As I recall in other hunting laws the use of a pistol or revolver is spelled out in the law, but I can see someone wanting to use a Judge.

As Windlooker stated, they are checking all the boxes. Everything hunters and ag have been using as a reason to keep Iowa for Iowans has been addressed to some extent. In the bill partnerships are addressed, but it may be a partnership with residents and a nonresident. I'm not sure how it...

    HSB 609 Hunting turkey with a .410

The legislature has to tell the NRC they want something done or changed, the NRC then makes a rule following the legislative guidelines, publishes the rules and the DNR enforces/follows them. Straight wall as an example. This is a simplified explanation, as there are some other checks and...
