This bill would allow nonresident landowners who qualify to obtain yearly deer tags.
Link: <NRLO Tags>
The "who qualify" part is long and wordy, but a quick read indicates the NRLO must own at least 80 acres for at least 10 years or inherited a family farm of at least 80 acres and has been 10...
This bill would repeal the statute that prohibits the mowing of highway right of ways prior to July 15th.
Link: SSB 3050
If passed it could have a negative effect on nesting areas.
This bill would raise the cost of registering a vessel without motor or sail (canoes or kayaks) from $12 to $20. It also changes the length of the canoe or kayaks that need to display registration numbers from over 13 feet to over 10 feet. The law would also include the water trails fund as a...
This bill would add coyotes, raccoons, possums, skunks and ground hogs to nuisance animals that could be taken year-round without prior permission from the DNR.

I had heard rumors that something like this might be proposed this year. It came up in a discussion...
This bill would not require 16 year olds who accompany licensed adults that are hunting to have a hunting license provided they do not hunt/carry a weapon.
Link: <HF 2044>
The bill adds "hunting" to the current law that allows 16 year olds to accompany adults while trapping.
SF 2076 would allow Iowa residents who are disabled veterans to hunt, fish and trap without purchasing a license. If checked by a CO the veteran would need to produce proof of age, residency, veteran status and disability status.

I'm not sure what effect this would...
Long bill that covers a lot of ground. The highlights are a change in preference for temporary employment (summer jobs with the DNR), online watercraft safety courses, repealing some low head dam stuff and changing where the water trails rules are, personal flotation devices and boating while...

Interesting. On the face of it this seems pretty straight forward.
Are youth turkey tags good for any season and if so, are they available to purchase after youth season closes?
Thanks for the info.
This bill would allow youth season deer tags to sold when all other tags are sold.
Reads like a "clean up" bill, I just assumed youth tags, even though a youth tag can be used in any season, could be sold in any season. I haven't heard of an issue in this regard, I'd be interested to hear of...

Not 100% hunting related but close enough.
I don't know much, if anything, about CRP and the ins and outs of the program, but it appears this bill would prohibit the state from counting land enrolled in the CRP program as residential for property tax purposes.
HSB 500 proposed CRP changes
The 2022 Session of the of the 89th General Assembly convened today. As was commented in another thread regarding adding another deer season, that is just one of the continuing litany of proposals we expect to be filed, refiled and brought back to life.
Thanks to everybody who took the time to...
Some pics of Welters' results:
This brassicas mix was planted in a drought. I don't think you need to worry about germination rates. Plus if you give Welters your "recipe" they will mix it for you.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but on that label pictured above it appears it was tested 7 years...
