What did I get myself into…

I have run the same planterfor a # of Years. JD7000. The weight being to light can be a problem on hard dry years or a late planting. To compensate I added prob 15 sticks of 1 1/4 rebar inside the tube. Had a buddy who had it on hand and worked very good for adding dead weight all the way...

“I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HUNT MY LAND AS NR EVERY YEAR!!!”

Yes I believe you are right. Generally on the last afternoon of the last day of the group hunt some not all of the hunters are willing to offer up their buck tag to tag a doe. I can't say I have ever seen a buck tag on the leg of a doe on a sat morning on the opener... Kinda tells me we...

Speaking at classic & ISC dinner- suggestions on Keeping iowa great?

Agree with all above. Keep points very short and direct. Human attention span is very short. You are generally right on point as far as the topics go. We're never all going to agree 100% however letting them know your/ our purpose is to protect the quality and experiences of hunting for our...

    Which Implements?

Speaking from experience here ..... Buy absolute minimum for that tractor to get by. I will guarantee you will be upsizing it in the future when possible.... Atv sprayer/ atv broadcaster/ and a 3 pt tiller will get you by until then. If you buy a lot of implements sized for that tractor then...

The cedar tree project with a tree shear w/grapple

Did running the tree sheer cause any damage to the machine( cosmetic or otherwise, windshield wipers/lights/hydo hoses?) Haven't personally used those but wondered if the cedars would be tough to get to the trunk.... After doing the project would a small escavtor w/ thumb have been better...

How bad are autumn olive and honeysuckle?

Sounds like you have a lot of knowledge on the subject, how ever real world experience IDK. Laying on the ground and cutting by hand tells me a lot..... have literally removed 10s of thousands, 0 by cutting. Pull/stack/burn. No chemical/ no mess/ good seed bed when complete....Personally...

How bad are autumn olive and honeysuckle?

Need some controversy here. I have had many farms with tons of honey suckle, multifloral rose, etc.... I AM NOT A FORESTOR! I fully understand the desire to eradicate. (Mainly the multifloral) I am an advocate of the honeysuckle. IMO (very easy to remove if need to) Personally like it for...

Honest concern with Youth Hunter bucks shot…

I think I gotta disagree with skip on this one. My six year old was able to harvest a giant in velvet and I'm pretty sure it hooked him for life!

    Bear pistols

Agree with most above. Glock20 most reliable/practicle way to go. What I carry personally while out west in bear country. (Every sept since 02) I agree with big/heavy/bulky all suck especially when fighting the heat/steep/sweat and elevation. More weight seems to be the last thing u need...

Youth hunting? Tactics, what to shoot & anyone going?

I wanted to circle back to this topic as it is approaching us this weekend. The youth hunting season is a fantastic time of year to get the kids out especially if you have put in some work and have your farm or even permission farm set up. (As it can be very miserable and uncomfortable if not...

    PH Outdoors

agree on the above with the pricing, however pay close attention and you can usually find pretty decent stuff at a percentage of the price. I bought this year off of Facebook nothing special a practically brand new 606 NT 3 point w/ small box no native (which I do believe to be a positive on...

When do deer use corn vs beans

My opinion in my experience, corn trumps beans. Beans are easier to grow, cheaper all around, but if the two are side by side the deer are going to the corn.
