    Pigweed

I think it seems logical. It's just going to be a struggle for a few years until you get ahead of the seed bank. Seeding your brassicas a week or two later will still be worth while. I know you are stuck on dbltree rotation but if it remains a problem, consider breaking that rotation next year...

Which to go - first or second season?

Skip turkeys and go fishing! Guys make a good argument about weather but I sure see a lot of birds out and about on damp days.

    Substitute for Round-UP?

Run that through a tank with an agitator and the foam might fry your pump.

    Whitetail vs. Flathead

Flatheads for sure. They are more concentrated around the right habitat.

    The Mount of Patches

Stunning piece of art right there. Congrats.

    Ban it all. Done.

    hf 2160 baiting

Exactly why it should be banned completely on public land. Luckily, I haven't suffered in my haunts but know many who have. I too, think there are bigger fish to fry but will be glad to see a resolution with this issue.

    Frost:

Cedars are fun! Low relative humidity and they are scorched.

    Frost:

Horse Doctor leads me to another point. Often babysitting breaks/wet lines can simply get too hot. A good way to get around this would be to disk/till the outside of the field(s), then mow a few passes inside of your black line. If you light your backing or head fire off that mowed/disced line...

    Frost:

Light discing often leaves a lot of material that can carry fire, yet... And might leave the ground real rough. I'd either disk it black or if you have the resources, mow it short and lay down a wetline. Lots of ways to skin that cat.

    It's almost burn season!

HF 2108 .410 for turkey hunting

So if the gun is not too big but they're still young? Both mine could shoulder and handle youth models very easy and the devastation from that youth model is the same as my adult model. I simply saved some coin by not going that route. I do agree with you that maybe the most important aspect is...

HF 2108 .410 for turkey hunting

I know this is not necessarily the topic of the thread but after reading some of the responses, I'd be curious to hear a few of you elaborate on why you disagree with the use of 'field pods'. I would personally use one if I felt like blowing the money. I won't, however, but that's neither here...

    HF 2193 Search warrants

I'm not convinced either way where I stand on this one but leaning towards supporting this bill. Regardless, thank you for all the updates. It's easier than navigating through them in the IBA emails I get.

    HF 2194 handguns and hunting

Agree with Liv. I'd like to see some legislation following this if it passes that takes anybody's carry permit away if they use their handgun to harvest an animal illegally.

    Unfortunate turkey accident

I saw one just like that down by the 1000 acre unit in 04. Pretty wild. Wonder if it snaps their neck or suffocates them?

    armadilla killa

Nice. Good luck with the other critters. Way to rhyme, too. When did you get so ghetto?

    Truax Seed Slinger- "Calibration" Questions

I dilute clean seed with pine bedding. Have heard cheap cat litter, slightly moistened, is even better. Rather than count seeds, I use my #/acre rate to calibrate. Use equal parts seed and medium of choice (by weight), only mixing a small amount at first. Run it through your seeder for 15...

    Improving River Bottom Habitat

Lots of trees will take the moisture. Swamp whites are my fave. Be careful not to release a bunch of reed canary by opening up the canopy.

    Fescue Takeover

I'd concentrate on the fall. Fescue stays green (and active) well into fall, after a few frosts have killed off warm season vegetation. You could potentially hurt Asters if they are in the seeding but you'll get a much better kill. I'd bale it mid-September or so, and aim to spray in October...
