Try different bullets... My 1st muzzy was a CVA and it shot almost everything like crap... But it and most other guns Ive worked with since have loved Knight Ted Hots
Timney triggers are nice, but you can get something like a "Velocity" brand and itll be just as good for half the price. Ive got Velocity 3lbs in all mine and theyre awesome. I prefer single stage.
As for bullets if you really want to squeeze all the accuracy you can out of it Id suggest giving...
1-4× illuminated reticle... You can find some decent deals sometimes on Leupold VX-R's
Another pretty good option is Primarys Arms... Theyve got 1-4×, 1-6×, and 1-8× illuminated reticle scopes for a pretty good price with several different reticles to choose from. Theyre similar to Vortex in...
Ive never used an actual scope but I had a Trijicon reflex sight on my turkey gun for years and it was awesome if youre not in a blind... It was a no battery always on illuminated by fiber optic and tritium. But if you were in a dark blind and the bird was out in bright sun the dot wasnt bright...
Des Moines are Id get ahold of Danielle Polzin at Alternative Outdoors in Carlisle... Oskaloosa area Id get ahold of Dylan Kral with DK Custom Taxidermy... I can get you contact info for either if you need it
I shoot pool with a couple that go to Florida offshore fishing every year and they seem to do pretty well... Let me know if you want me to get some contact info
This place has Leupold VX-6hd in 4-24 for 1500ish... They have a few different retixles but I think theyre all the same price. Probably the cheapest youll find. Ive ordered one scope through them without any issues and Ive had Opticsplanet match a price from their website once as well so there's...
When I hunt with a gun thats got a brake I try to just wear one ear plug in the ear closest to the brake when firing since thats the side that really gets the abuse and that way I still have full unmuffled hearing from the other ear... If you shoot right handed wear a plug in the left ear if...
It can be tough... Had my best luck just getting REAL close to them on the roost. If that didnt work then it was a matter ok keeping them gobbling and leap frogging until I got ahead of them and they worked their way to me. Very limited success calling anything in other than right off the roost...
Unless youre looking for under armour or ski pants Dicks was always a wasted trip anyways... Might as well go the the sporting goods section at Wal-Mart
BDC reticles arent bad but theyre not always that close to true point of impact and can be a bit "busy" for some people. If you're just expecting it to be a 200yd gun then just get a regular old easy on the eye duplex scope and sight it in (depending on gun... Scope height, barrel length, ammo...
Ill second the illuminated reticle... If youre a stand hunter only then get a variable power scope with 9-12x mag if you do any still hunts or drives then Id recommend something that will have a lower power setting as well...
My .450 has a Leupold VX-6 2-12× with the firedot. The firedot is...
My understanding was that this was originally suppose to change the law back to what it has been in previous years... Meaning you could use any legal pistol including AR style pistols during both shotgun seasons and late muzzleloader seasons. But thee could have been some changes made.
20" .450 bushmaster with a Leupold VX-6 2-12×42 firedot reticle shoots awesome. You get something similar to a red dot on 2x with the firedot on but can crank it up to 12x for longer shots if needed...
Zeroed at 150yds it shoots about 3"high @100 and about 3"low at 200
