I've been following the dbltree rotation 20 yds out my living room window for several years now and the deer love it. It really brings the does in anyway. The bucks dont usually use it too much until after dark. I've never done a soil test on it but I have very sandy soil. I fertilize well...
Saw on facebook that people were getting drawn. Someone was having an issue with their phone not updating the site from last year but when they used a computer it updated.
I'm curious how it worked with being in the middle of your senior year season at HS? I'm surprised they just pluck you right out of the season like that.
Awesome! Crazy how quickly you have to report already. Will be fun to follow along and hopefully you can make it to the big leagues! You just graduate HS this year?
If you could mix them, that would probably be ideal. Im not sure how 'hot' horse manure is. Compost would probably be the best long term amendment. How fine is the compost though? You probably wont want a bunch of big wood chips in it.
I hope you are right! :) My wife makes fun of me crawling around in it trying to find fresh sprouts! It's only about an 1/8 acre and it's in my front yard.. Just looks like $*** right now.. lol. The wildlife will love it.. my neighbor is all worried the whole neighborhood is going to burn...
Im starting to really get worried. Frost seeded switch from Osenbaughs on about January 25th this year and it is still bare as can be... Is it still early for germination? It had plenty of time to stratify. Very few weeds growing also. Sprayed with gly and the generic oust last fall.
I'm going to try it this year. Ive got some rye standing about head high right now. Will try to broadcast the seed right before a heavy rain so it works through the debris
Do you have access to a drill? If so, you could spray and kill it. Once it is brown and dry, roll it to flatten it out and have your seed drilled into the debris. That will help retain moisture and by no-tilling, you wont be planting any weed seeds from grasses that have already headed out.
The wife and I set up a little trip with another friend on the site (Brandon) to work on some food plots and do some turkey hunting and fishing. The plan was to meet up last Thursday night at his uncle's cabin and spend the weekend there. Unfortunately, he couldn't meet up with us until Friday...
I'm pretty sure switchgrass is immune to the atrazine so you can spray the whole thing. Oust is the pre-emergence herbicide that will harm it. I would let someone confirm though before you take my word for it because I'm pretty new to switch.
Bird numbers down damn near 75% in my hunting spot just from last year. Land owner found a random limbhanger laying dead by his grain bin a few weeks ago... dont know if that avian flu is affecting anything or not. Worst turkey population ive seen in 20 yrs so far..
