Curious how everyone transports their sticks to the woods? Attached to the stand, a pack or just carry in? I’ve wrapped my sticks and used those rubber coated wire ties the box stores sell but they still make some noise because the LW sticks don’t stack well and the the black rubber ties get...
Inquire with Blackhawk County Conservation, Polk County, Dallas County representives along with the IBA to see if they’d help educate/advocate the Ia City-city council on the benefits of an urban bow hunt. All of the first three mentioned have been very successful at it and with a little help...
Noticed this stand traveling between jobs, I’ll just say it’s on a fairly busy state highway just south of Waterloo. Not a stitch of timber besides what’s in the ditch it’s in. Also not sure if it’s legit or just being funny. I got a kick out of it anyway. Where have you seen an interesting...
Could you meet in the middle on this one somehow? Maybe allow crossbow hunting to anyone but restrict the range/draw weight (capabilities) somehow only making an exception for those that have the medical release. Change what can be harvested, antler restrictions maybe. I have an uncle (35 years...
I would second all these opinions, Cyball is spot on with the Shad Raps but no bigger then a #5 deep diver. The walleye are shallow in the spring, fish the bays in 4-12’ of water. Power Bait or minnows on an unpainted 1/4oz jig head is good also. Pike fishing on Eagle has been slow the last...
Now come on, Fish and Sligh were just advocating not eating venison in a recent thread along with posting research showing no clear path to stopping CWD. Why not get ahead of this and eat while the eatings still good so to speak while saving us money from throwing unused tags in the trash?
Like everyone so far I’m not sure what the answers are. I remember as a kid, 41 now, the AIDS epidemic blowing up and now you rarely hear anything about it. A solution as to how not to contract it came about and eventually medicines to slow the progression of the disease as well. We live until...
I use a Millennium M7 and Lonewolf sticks. Swapped out the factory straps on the sticks for rope as suggested on a different thread but did not like it and went back to the straps. Only issue I have now is transporting the sticks, wish there was a way to strap them to the stand in an organized...
I just go with a pair of Keen’s, waterproof, super lightweight, don’t break the the bank and can be worn for other activities. Other manufacturers out there that make similar style.

A group of Dems staged a walk from Senator Grassleys rural home to his grandsons rural home who’s a State Representative, all on public roads not on their property, last weekend to protest the Kavanaugh appointment and “conservative extremism”. This bothered me even though they were peaceful...
Ha, read the original post two weeks ago and did not heed the warning!!! Our phones just didn’t do as well I think they should’ve out west. I’ll never head out on a trip without a satellite GPS and an Atlas in the car again. Not that we were ever truly lost but could’ve saved us time.
Just arrived home last night from this same trip. I’d second Ishi also except for Wall Drug and the Badlands. Wall Drug is a trap that’ll just waste your time. The Badlands offer nice hikes and views. Our kids really enjoyed climbing the rocks. We hit the Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Custer State...
