You could plant tillage radishes. They grow deep and will break any type of hard pan you may have created. More farmers are turning to tillage radishes as cover crops to fight compaction. They will also retain nutrients. Although it's too late to plant them this year, it's something to consider...
They are the future, and if they get a bad weekend of youth season due to poor weather or low activity, it would be unfortunate for them to get turned away/lose interest from turkey hunting for the years to follow. Just my opinion.
