Does anyone know if this type of container is effective at starting oaks from acorns?

You've got to be kidding me!!!

This part of the penalty is interesting. It seems to suggest that the buck was "owned" by the landowner. What happens in KS when a trespasser takes sheds... I believe in Iowa all fines go to the State.

    Timber Value Question

The links at the bottom of this site have price information. Prices will vary widely by region but the data here can at least show market trends over time. http://web.extension.illinois.edu/forestry/il_timber_prices/index.html

Do application numbers include preference point purchases? Maybe more nr's are buying those to ride out the economy. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy using IW

    bare land lender

I had a loan through our local credit union but recently refinanced with Farm Credit Services. They have a much better fixed rate than what I could find anywhere else. FCS serves Allamakee and other NE Iowa counties. I originally called AgStar which is similar, but they cover a different area...

T/C Omega and Nikon Omega scope combo

Selling my muzzleloader and scope combo. Gun is a black/blued T/C Omega .50 cal. Scope is a 3-9 x 40 Omega made by Nikon. Mounted with a set of T/C gorilla mounts and upgraded aluminum ramrod and stock sling swivels. This set shows no sign of wear because I rarely use it, which is why I am...

    shed question

I don't think non-residents should be treated different, but more strict tresspassing laws and a liquidated damages bill like HF2003 would make would-be law-breakers think twice, resident or not. So far, I have busted 4 trespassers on my NE Iowa farm, all shed hunters, all from Wisconsin...

    Anyone know??

Maybe it's a Hoyt thing? I miss the days when Bill was not backed by a bow sponsor. He did some great bow reviews published in Peterson's Bowhunting Mag, and I even used one as a reference for an engineering paper I wrote in 1993. I really enjoy watching the show and learning from...

    Edge Feathering and bedding areas

This is a picture taken from the bow stand in November, of an 11-month old edge feather job. As you can tell, there were very few desirable species in the area based on the number of large trees left. However, there are tons of young 6" oaks and a nice aspen stand taking hold in this area. I...

Bow usage during Iowa Shotgun seasons

Wisconsin allowed bow hunting during gun season for the first time this year and didn't have any safety incidents. I would be in support of this. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy using IW

So how did the doe numbers compare to previous years?

    Rut Intensity

Reading the other thread about deer numbers got me thinking... Are you guys seeing the increased “rut intensity” that some feel reduced doe numbers are suppose to bring? Through 2008, the few mature bucks I shot were pushing a doe hard, right past my stand. I encountered several others that came...

What have you forgotten while hunting?

I forgot my bow at the base of my tree one evening. Had to change my plans where to sit the next morning but it was still there.

    Wool clothing question's?

I had a set of hidden wolf woolens (before they were GWW) and liked the warmth and quiet but didn't care for the hand washing and the fact you smelled like a sheep when raining. I went to the GWW wolf skin and am much happier. As stated, they handle burrs much better too.

    scentproof hip boot

I think Cabela's carries the Muck Boot Woody Bayou Convertible. These are a knee boot that roll up to a hip boot. I bought a different model of Muck boot but they are a quality product.
