Mine got signed up by the previous owner- $72 an acre . He had no clue what he was going when he signed up stuff and really made a mess of my piece. Tempted to buy it out so I can enroll it differently but really not cost efficient.
It’s going to be- well now non resident landowners with 40 acres get a tag, but everyone 39.9 and under don’t. It’s an opening due to-“you just got rid of x amount of tags and we need to keep deer numbers down”
Im all for a 1 buck state- I understand the dynamics. I don’t agree though is the “divide”. It’s all or none that will help- not x acres. Again- with 3 different pieces to hunt with a LOT- no one knows which piece I shot it off. Not only that, you have no idea if my statewide came off my land...
Well I guess that’s my question is- how often is it even updated? I’ve never had to “re enter” anything in 12 years. I changed my stuff due to my DNR officer wanting my home farm versus renting- but even then- when I changed I literally put in a parcel number and “agreed” I was up to terms.
I...
I’ve said that many posts back- it’s not just “2 acres” as everyone claimed. There are the regulations needed- but how many people truly are bypassing that… you can change it to 40, but until the actual regulations are even followed- there literally is no way to control it.
I’ve heard several people already say this year they havent found a single shed- on primo ground too.
A story that I know- local group would get all of the out of state hunters they could get to hunt with them- they would drop them off on one side of a section and tell them “yup we have...
My neighbor is the same way- he put up posts where "the property line is" as he just randomly walked around doing. Its only to keep him on his own land- as I have plenty of pictures of him walking up my draw various times of the year. Every time I send him his picture and then move the camera...
I went to a DNR field day last year and they took us to a “clear cut”. Said the officer that did it just about got ran out of the state due to his idea. Cut every tree down and started “fresh”. Man- it’s beautiful today and they are going to select cut this summer. Just know it’s always going to...
Also- I think there is a lot of concern that you get rid of the under 40 lot, then there will suddenly “be room” for non resident lot with 40+- hence opening the gate more unintentionally
I answered those 4 questions a page ago I think? But sure hope someone else chimes in too- I like the constructive conversation. Oddly- I do believe if you said take away all of them- would be less of a battle. I think if we said “floating lot”- suddenly NR will be “why do they get a floating...
I feel like you are ignorning me Skip, it hurts my feelings ;) I have answered your questions (or maybe I should be going elsewhere to answer?-but this is my social media) but again, the problem that is faced, in my opinion, is the acre argument. Thats clearly dividing a lot of people which...
Your questions
What merits shooting an “extra” buck off more than 40? Again we keep all the talk about “bucks”. Let’s not forget this is any sex. I’ve thrown out my neighboring apple orchard is 37 acres and DNR says they don’t have enough damage for dep tags. So now they can’t attempt to keep...
I think he meant it as in "no additional tags added for ten years" I could be wrong... fearing, somehow, Nonresident landowners with 40+ acres will get tags added (thats how I read it anyway)
