    What is this weed?

Your picture is clear, but not zoom-able...which makes is hard to distinguish the "traits" needed for using ID dichotomous keys. Trying to ID based on cotyledons and/or new growth can be challenging.

    What is this weed?

first off - there are multiple plant species in the relatively unclear photo...but I assume your concern is the serrate leaved plant it's definitely not clover and definitely not ash trees. for taxonomy purposes, a clear picture of the single plant is needed with a clear picture of leaf...

    Green screen - Sorghum

I can't say for sure, because there are so many different varieties of sorghum, BUT my experience has been that once they put the seed head on, the tend to add some height. Again, your results may vary, but I would expect it to grow another foot or so...most sorghum strain reach between 4 and...

Old Deer, how old is old?

wow, this post makes me all sorts of jealous. If a buck in my hunting area makes it to 4 or 5, he's considered ancient. I know of none making it past 5 because of the hunter density and pressure. The poaching problem doesn't aid that sad fact either. Except for two confirmed hunter kills...

amen to all that...equipment is the plan, but a 2.5yr old and a 9week old are stealing all of this dad's extra cash and attention right now. Just a matter of being patient and staying committed to the prioritization list.:way:

update One field looks great, one looks okay, and one got decimated by turkeys. A word of caution...the Pheasants Forever "Rooster Booster" blend (at least the bag I got last year and the one I got this year) is extremely heavy on millet and contains foxtail ("millet"). I'm not a fan and...

    Plot prep

No doubt...which is why I said, I hope his results this year are better...thus mine (and yours) will be too :) The climate-tracking environmental professional that i am, has some doubt...as so far this year has been a borderline mirror to last year. However, we're supposed to be setup for a...

    Plot prep

Last year, I tried mowing and broadcasting over the leftover "thatch", followed by a final mow & pack...we didn't get any rain and my results showed it. Pretty much a waste of time, seed and $$$ for me. Hope your results are better, but I wouldn't have high expectations.

Rooster Booster has milo, corn, sorghum, millet and something else. Last year we had borrowed a native seed drill from the local county conservation. The drill was set wrong, and the mix itself is not really "drill friendly" in my opinion. Regardless, all the smaller seeds escaped rapidly...
