    Would you ever?

Bpul2113, you should probably start your own witty post instead of hijacking. To answer the OP, no I would not shoot a deer out of the ditch from someone elses drive. Also, I believe in the regs it spells out which parts of the state shooting deer in right of way is legal.

    11/22/13 Buck down!

Make sure to post the score to see who gets the gold star for deer age/score estimation, it was a pretty heated debate:) Very nice deer, and one to be proud of no matter what the score!!!

The Indiana gun season starts mid November. Big difference from Iowa. IMO... Crossbows are fine as long as they keep them in gun seasons where they belong. They are much similar to long guns then they are traditional bows.

    Tordon question.....

    1. Yes it can be used in a pump sprayer, I do it all the time. If the sprayer comes with multiple tips use the one that sprayes in a stream it works the best. 2. I have never had a problem with killing trees other than the target. The key is to only use enough chemical to completely cover the...

    Herbicides

Good advice here! I will add that instead of a frost seed I have had the best luck drillling the natives late in the spring after I have killed off the first flush weeds with round-up. I have never needed to respray a late spring planting.

    Govenor weakening residency laws!

Great that's what I was hopeing for, and to be clear all I heard is that the dnr admin is scrambling to get those residency requirments turned back at the dismay of the field staff. I made a few calls myself, and all said the same thing. I don't know anything about putting the blame on the...

    Govenor weakening residency laws!

Kind of like when there was no dove bill then suddenly there was and it passed before the anti's could protest... worked for him once. Just say'n Just be aware and be ready to contact your legislators. Hopefully someone from iowa whitetails forever, IBA etc. will pick up on this.

    Govenor weakening residency laws!

Heard about this today, quick search found this on iowasportsman. Essentially turning the clock back to what the residency requirements used to be, which was just inviting people so inclined to cheat the system. http://www.iowasportsman.com/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=843813 I heard that...

    Red Rock Wildlife Area?

X2 There are nice bucks around and some thick nasty cover, but it is still public ground and gets hit pretty hard. It is very close to the largest city in Iowa. IMO. If you are looking for areas in zone 5 the further you get away from des moines the better.

    little help

I hit one once on a quartering away angle and hit him directly in the ham. It was my fault I pulled the shot in the excitement. Backed out and came back 6 hrs later. Found him after a very difficult 800 yard tracking job. Arrow made its way into body cavity and cut up some major vessels...

    little help

You have a lot more going on there then just the deer jumping forward, your going to have to take your lumps a bit. A deer jumping the string at 20 yards wouldn't be that far off if you were shooting a 750 grain arrow out of a long bow. As long as you didn't hit the femoral artery or...

    Tracking Question

Sounds like a typical liver shot, liver is behind the diaphram and there is lots of fat in that neck of the woods. He should be dead by the AM, I have had similiar hits and he should be dead in his first bed or very close if you did not push him. In my experience with liver shot bucks I have...

    Baiting regs

Sorry to be captain obvious, but I believe the difference is that in one case you are dumping out a bucket of corn and in the other your are planting a corn seed hopeing it will grow into a plant, that in turn grows several ears of corn. Both are attractants like scent drippers, TSI, habitat...
