433 now with 1 shed buck!
I don't know but I would think the number should be a lot higher if these where dep program numbers, some of the city and park hunts started last weekend, and 433 doen't seem at all high for opening weekend of those hunts.

Was that whole post of your some kind of a joke???
Most of the things you listed are the reason Iowa is such a great place to hunt. Why can't you figure that out? Oh, yea I forgot you have your 5,000 acre ranch to hunt, so you really don't care about the Iowa deer herd just...
Sorry, I made a mistake they wont be paying you $5,000 to hunt it's more like $5,700 to hunt and up to $25,000 when they kill something.

Has this bill been passed? Does it still need to go through the house before it can be voted on? I see it passed the senate side, I just don't know how this whole political machine works.

I have used the following method that has works very well for establishing new prairie, and it will save money on herbiced. Wait to burn untill the field starts to green a bit, burn it to kill the newly emerging weeds and seed. Wait untill the next batch of weeds start to get going and spray...
I have had deer take on the wire also (lucky there was just a dented up cage laying next to a ravaged pine tree and not a buck running around with some "extra" head gear), so I would recomend the rebar stakes as well, its cheap and lasts forever. I started with wood stakes but they rot off...

If you do get some snow on the ground start following the coyote tracks, also look to see where the crows are at. If he is dead they will find him! I find several dead bucks a year while out shed hunting following the scavengers. Good luck.
