    Non-Resident Party Hunting

Like most things there is a good and a bad side. Most of the bad has been covered so I'll touch on the good. I hunt with a mixed group of close friends and family during the shotgun season, some are residents some are not. I only get doe tags along with the non-res's that don’t draw an any sex...

Give it to me straight! (Purchasing a Muzzy)

I picked up a stainless knight disk elite in .45 cal for 150 bucks a couple years ago on clearence from bass pro. Best money I've ever spent, its a absolute tack driver. If I could I would rather have a .50 though, supplies are much easier to get a hold of in a pinch and .45 are not legal in...

    Need your help/opinion.

The smaller size for the tags sounds like a no brainer. I would be more concerned with the sticky back on the licenses that we carry around for an entire year.

    Planting Cedar into established brome??

I've planted better than a thousand cedars into established brome. Most have been with a forester tree planter that you pull behind a tractor and some with a tree bar. I have done nothing other than stick them in the ground and I would say that I easily have a 90% survival rate. I don't know...

Deer aging by tooth cross section?

Does anybody have any information on aging deer by their teeth with the cutting method,(not sure the technical name), cross section or something? Just wondering if any one knows the details. Where to get it done, cost, teeth you need, and any other info that may be relevant. Seems that every...

    Non resident restrictions

One of the deals where the actions of a few ruin it for the many. Bottom line for this rule change. Nonresident antlerless bow tags = poached bucks. There was a good informational thread on this topic when this law was changed. And if you want a residents opinion on the subject, myself and...

Very nice! You got to stick one during the rut with snow on the ground. There is nothing better than a blood trail in the fresh snow!

    What would you do?

I say great job, What you just described is the way I always enter and exit the stand when I have shooting light left. I've killed many doe that way and my biggest buck to date while hunting my way into an afternoon stand. I would say that for saftey sake I just keep an arrow out of my quiver...

    After work hunts...

I say get out whenever you can even if its only a short amount of time. You definatley won't kill anything at home on the couch. I killed my first doe of the season sneaking up on a field with 20 minuets of shooting time left, and I usually get a couple does doing the same every year with just...

    Weird tree markings?

Squirrel, We had a red oak tree in the front yard of the house I grew up in. One year the squirrels decided the bark was tastey, the results where very similiar. On the particular tree I noticed more chewing on the horizontal branches they sat on, but they chewed the main trunk also.

    Deer Hoist

I do the same with the boat winch. I run the rope through eye bolts to the reinforced rafter. No need for the pully system though, I just put the 18 volt dewalt on the winch (the nut on the other side of the handle)and away it goes. You just have to watch out for the handle going around, it...

    If only the Democrats would............

turkeyriver, I just read the article. What the canadians are doing in Canada and what they are proposing to do in Alaska are two completley different things. In canada they are strip mining for oil laden sand just under the surface level and extracting the oils out of it. Which tears up...
