The Boone and Crockett rules allow the deer to be entered into their records by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources without any shooters name attached. So long as it is owned by a governmental entity. In the past the IDNR has scored and entered some of the antlers they possess. Usually the...
Incredibly awful officiating!!!!!!!!!
Did any of you listen to the postgame show on WHO radio? I thought Kirk Ferentz and the players interviewd did an outstanding classy job of commenting after such miserable officiating. I do not think I could have been as gracious as they were. I say again...
The proper thing to do is:
PRAY
Call a local officer you have confidence in.
He is supposed to investigate for any sign of a wrongful death.
If there is no evidence of any unlawful activity:
The deer shall be offered to the landowner.
If the landowner does not want it, it shall then be yours...
The Farm Bureau is in a rather interesting position.
First off it is NOT a farmers orginazation. It IS an insurance company. The membership is mostly nonfarmers. I believe Cook County Illinois has their greatest membership. Read that Chicago.
I participated in numerous Wildlife Study meetings...
The landowners own the land.
Those of us not able to own our own little honey hole had better find a way to compensate the landowner. I agree that one option could be to make trespass rights a condition of government programs. This kinda feels right to me. However, I think it is unreasonable to...
The nonresidents I mentioned have put together nearly 10,000 acres from which this years harvest was 5 mature bucks.
They hunt spring turkeys, fall pheasants and 2 1/2 days of deer hunting. This ( by my estimate) costs them well over $100,000.
While the locals have been excluded from this...
I am not an outfitter. I am a victim (if you will) of a situation where nonresidents are leasing a LARGE amount of land. It is kind of a catch 22 situation in that the landowners need some income that the nonresidents provide. We residents do not seem ready to fill that need. We do not seem...
I personally would like to see EVERY non resident able to buy a tag. I would CAREFULLY distribute them by area and season to hunt. I would also raise the fee as high as the highest fee anywhere in the west and EARMARK the increase in fee for acquiring more land for PUBLIC hunting.
Hey,
I might be able to help in this situation. A very good friend of mine lives in that area. He is an Official Boone and Crockett measurer and may have even measured the deer.
My cell phone is 515-689-4491
That is a BIG tree.
But I doubt it is even close to the biggest in the state. They do get HUGE.
They are not very long lived. And they do grow fast. I think you would be amazed to find out how old it is. An oak that size would likley be twice as old.
Good morning Alaskan.
I was reading about some range work some people did with a 30-338 wherein throat erosion showed up after only 150 rounds through that particular rifle. Commentts??????????
