My question is who would do the checking? DNR home office personnel? Do they have better things to do with their time?
People have already shown "how creative" they can be to dodge regulations. The cleanest and administratively easy approach is to shutter the whole program. Another case of...
I'd have to plant an oak or two and protect them. Swamp Whites grew well for us. They branch low which isn't as inviting for bucks to rub in my experience. The red oaks started from acorns are growing tall and straight, had to put cages around them to keep the bucks off them. Oaks like sun so...
Do away with ALL LOT any-sex tags, make it only a couple antlerless-only tags. I'd be all about that. As mentioned previously, many years I don't even bother to buy my LOT.
If you own land, the price of a tag is cheap entertainment.
As an OLD dude whose eyesight is somewhat diminishing, yet my non-fat fingers can type, I'm hoping to still buy ground. The current prices make me look back to the "glory" days and wish I'd bought more back before everything got run up. So on the topic of affordability, we are on equal...
Weren't you throwing around the "comrade" barb at people in previous posts? I'm sensing a tad bit of hypocrisy. The above can come off as a little anti-capitalistic.
I don't think I would care to discuss needing a LOT for cull bucks with the average Iowan or the average deer hunter. One person's cull might be another's trophy.
Whether I'm tagged out or still hunting, we don't grant permission to hunt. So land ownership basically has it "locked up" in my case, doubt I'm the exception in this regard. Who opens up their farm when their tag is punched? Maybe to a friend or family, but it won't become "public hunting"...
Yes, local DNR officers are involved. Occasionally you get some people who have a special interest (personal axe to grind) so you can provide an opposing view if you care to.
Not sure it has much impact, but the summary does make it back to DSM.
Ethanol production uses LOTS of water. Current ethanol production uses the corn kernel, which might be better utilized as food or feed. If they figure out a way to ferment corn stover or other biomass, I might be more of a fan.
I've heard that ethanol blends should not be used in chainsaws...
A person who worked part time at the Scheel's in Coralville related a similar story, that there was only one bow technician working there that they trusted. How to identify that person as a customer is the million-dollar question.
As has been mentioned, I was under the impression that one had to see a cash stream from the property.
From a call to the DNR in DSM, I got the feeling that they see all parcels registered whether the husband or wife or both are listed as owner and only one LOT will be issued accordingly. For...
