    Fish of a lifetime

The drag got a click or two adjustment to allow more pressure on the fish. The goal is to boat them as quickly as possible so as not to exhaust the fish. Shorter the fight, the faster they are "revived" alongside the boat before release. There has been talk of the recreational fishing be...

    Fish of a lifetime

I left last Wednesday, May 7, 2025, for NY and it took two days to drive there with road construction and it being 1,000 miles. The drive back Monday, May 12, I got lucky with traffic and was able to drive 16 hours straight home. This is my second trip, I posted on this forum the 28 lb fish I...

    Future of CRP

Iowa law protects the landowner from liability IF no fees are charged to hunt. Lawyers and health insurance types will still try to sue to recoup $. Don’t care to hire lawyers to defend baseless claims. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    EHD POND WENT BYE-BYE!!!!

I bet the dozers will be in there within a couple of weeks. With the dam cut, any rain will run out and the mud will not be wet enough for midge reproduction. Get the sludge out, have a clay base and the cycle should be broken.

    Slime in Tractor Tires

What does the tire repair shop think about goo filled tires when you get damage that the goo doesn't fix or when you need the tire replaced? They weren't real happy when I took in a fix-a-flat tire once.

    "Ample timbered areas"

I thought of Skip when reading this passage: "However, researchers from Drake University have suggested that the state could support up to 1,100 black bears, based on the region’s ample timbered areas." Black Bear sightings in Iowa article

    Saturday shed

Brow tine is gone, they almost chewed through the main beam between G1 and G2. G2 has serious damage and can't be sure long it was, G4 gone. But yes, for two years of chewing, could be much worse. I need to look back in trail cam pics and see if I can identify who carried it.

    Apple/Pear Trees

Grafting during a botany class way back when. Put tomato top on tobacco root and have poison tomatoes loaded with nicotine. I was successful grafting apple onto a dwarfing rootstock, but as a college student I had no place to plant it. :( Was told that one could graft a hop vine onto a...
