OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Hence why I’m making a point now- and again- to go back to my DNR officer and say “the guys on Iowawhitetail say to register my rental piece- even though you told me to do my home piece”- I’d look pretty “sketchy” right? The reasoning he said “owned” piece over rental is for the following...

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Correct- BUT- as I stated, my local DNR said to register my home piece. NOT to use the rental piece since that could end. So- that leads to- how many pieces get “rented”- and never gets taken away? So I follow what my local officer told me to do.

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Correct- all pieces I own are under 40 because it’s all that’s been available. I rent a 60+ acre piece but doesn’t do me any good right? In total I own 47 acres, but not one piece. My DNR officer said to register my home piece. So again- how many people have been told to register “a” parcel- and...

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Like stated previously though by a different poster- I register my home place of 17 acres and not any other piece- but I can hunt them all. That doesn’t mean they are getting shot on that 17 acre piece. My local DNR told me to register my home piece since I’m likely to stay here the longest. So...

I do agree debate is healthy and it’s a good way to gauge ideas and concerns. Glad we can discuss as adults here and throw out multiple reasons for each direction.

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

And again- are those pieces being Tenant tags, LOT tags, are the landowners actually qualified for the tags- or at they just being handed out? I mean- let me play devils advocate for you. You pissed of "substantial" small acreage owners- what if they all say "Get rid of my tag- then I want...

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Well again, we can agree to disagree- but 40 acres is not the answer to the "abuse" of the tags. You take away my LOT, my county does not have a doe tag. So now I will get overran with does? Thats not right either. My statement earlier, and where I still lead to- the guy across the river has 60...

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Agree- its got to be all or none at that point. Ive said it multiple times over various posts, I think LOT needs to be looked at for qualifications. I know when I signed up, the 2 acres is "conservation program or profitable ground". My COUNTY has a minimum acreage you can parcel off- for...

    New bill

At least there is cover down there. Up in north 1/4 of the state it gets ugly finding any piece over 40 acres due to farmers have ripped out so much everywhere. I watched 15 acres of trees ripped out last year so they could farm it.

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Question on the 40 acres- how is that “listed”. So I have 17 at my home place, and my 30 hunting piece is separate- so that’s 47? Or I rent a 76 farm/woods- that count too even though my current lot is set on my 17? (And they have never asked for any other parcels?) just curious how it’s going...

    Wow Just Wow....... Land Prices

I had my neighbor walk along and just put posts wherever he thought the line was- it’s not accurate but I’m not having a full survey done until I get the neighbors piece bought (we’ve been working on a 2 1/2 acre piece for like a year now)…. Once I get that finalized I’m going to have to do a...

    Late winter food

I guess I meant it more as in- once it got fairly cold here, they didnt touch the pumpkins anymore. They ate them early like a typically food, but then once it got cold, they focused on other things.

    Late winter food

Ive done pumpkins for 2 years now- first year was very limited grazing. This year, everything that was left, they ate. Now that being said, I did have to fence them as they were growing. I couldnt keep the deer out of them. So fence went up, got pumpkins mature, opened the fence and it was...

The Future of Iowa Deer Hunting and a One Buck Limit

#3- raise doe tags too, otherwise people WILL continue to shoot does and keep our numbers low. I said it way earlier in the post, I dont believe one buck is the answer. Sure, maybe it will be, but first and foremost we need numbers of the herd raised. As a different poster mentioned, our...

The Future of Iowa Deer Hunting and a One Buck Limit

Brett- been a long time since I was in your garage, but some of the talking we did I agree. Most guys I know dont shoot MAYBE 1 buck a year. I shot 2 this year, one being a management buck that absolutely needed to go. Last year I didnt shoot a buck. I dont believe 1 buck is the answer. I think...

Senate subcommittee meeting - SF 83, TUES 1:30- Kill all the deer - senate version. Attend, zoom, email…

It’s been a long time since I’ve been around those guys- Lee was always down to earth it seemed. Drurys were always pretty high and mighty (I was around each crew for about 3 years each)
