I’m going to see if I can get out of work tomorrow or not. Got a few appointments I’m hoping I can switch (the guys are deer hunters, heck they might want to ride along) If I can- I will gladly make the 3 hour trip.

This area everyone is high. Same stories for everyone I talked to, 20-30k cheaper. I’ve talked to crews further away that won’t travel this far- but all local crews (both big name and little) are all right at the same price point. We have no big deer and high prices- it’s garbage up here!

But I should also add- we have 5 groups that group hunt late muzzy in my area- if we could ban group hunting (for everything except shotgun) then keep it until the 10th. They push and push up here in farm country

I farm- I get it, my cousins all work at elevators. A lot of people love late muzzy- myself absolutely included. From an animal health and stress standpoint, end Dec 31st. 10 days of extra stress are detrimental on deer after a long hard rut and gun seasons.

I’ve said for years- why don’t people have to pay to use it for everything else. I have to buy state passes in other states, and then on top, pay for spots at the campgrounds for camping. Anyone notice how nice other states are? Iowa for sure can do some tweaking!

I believe smoke does kill scent (it’s been awhile since I’ve looked it up). I’ve got a wood boiler at my home place and have smoke rolling all the time, the deer are always in the smoke.

How do you measure the “quality” and “age” of the herd with a drone exactly? Serious question.
