The whole thing has been turned into a political whorl wind. It looks like they are just playing in to the pressures from outside forces that have no concern for the real issues at hand. Selling more tags through all kinds of gimmicks (rifles, more non-res. tags, guns in nov. extended seasons...
This is a e-mail I sent out to Mr. Dale Garner, Bureau Chief of the division of wildlife. I normally stay pretty quiet and mind my own buisness but guns during november and rifles have no place in Iowa. Not having those two things here is what has made our state such a great place to hunt. This...
I use a I million candle power rechargeable spot light. It has a smaller auxilary light thats about as bright as a regular flashlight, I use it when I have good blood (saves battery), and if the trail gets sparse I fire up the big light. Cost me twenty bucks at target and it works outstanding...
Re: huntnfish
It’s also not all about punishing the poachers themselves. The more we as a hunting society publicly and loudly condemn their actions the more likely the next generation of hunters who grow up seeing these images will condemn poaching as well.
It’s all about education...
I don't think publishing their names is nearly enough, how about posting their pictures on billboards across the state. That way if i ever run across one of them I kick them strait in the do-dads!
We will not have to worry about competition, leasing, outfitters and nonresidents as long as the state keeps the NR tags restricted.
State wide QDM would be a great thing!

You can't go wrong with a three grass mix of big blue, indian grass and switch grass. That way at least one of them will do well. All three will provide good cover for deer, and pheasants.
I got a picture of him but he was a long ways away so the quality isn't very good.
I think I might try and harvest him this year if I get the chance just to see what the deal is. thanks for the input.
Yesterday evening I was out doing some scouting and saw a buck in one of my foodplots that had a real nice four point antler on one side (would have been an easy P&Y had the other side matched)and on the other side he had about a 12 inch spike that forked at the top.
I was just wondering...
I agree it is great stuff for late season hunting. I have heard from other guys who have planted it that a spring planting will mature and die off before hunting season rolls around. Also I wouldn't think the deer would eat it during the summer, they didn't touch any of mine last year until...
Limb Chicken,
This may or may not work, but anyway it has a large succulent leaf and looks like raddishes when it first starts to grow. Its stays green under the snow and the deer just love it.
Here are a couple more. If you are interested a good friend of mine has the match to each. For reference the larger one is around 87 and the other is aound 75.
Has anyone had any experience planting rape?
I am planning on putting some in the ground here pretty soon and was wondering if any one has some advise or comments on the stuff.
