Broadcast brassicas and got around 3'' of rain overnight

I am still waiting for the "perfect" plot with ample rain and everything going as planned....hasn't happened in 3 years now. I do have more seed. Like anything weeds getting a head start always worries me too. I originally just packed it essentially with the tractor tires, lots of tread grooves...

Broadcast brassicas and got around 3'' of rain overnight

It was a firm seed bed, and I knew there was a chance of heavy rain coming so I decided not to take a drag over it and loosen the soil. I broadcast right onto the dry dirt and just when over very lightly with a packer. Do I have any reason to worry or would a good hard rain be good to work...

Ladino (white clover) seed left over 16lbs $50

White clover is high (if you guys haven't noticed), priced around $3 a lb is a pretty good deal. I had some left over and thought someone could use some with fall plots needed to be planted before long. Located in Bedford, IA the seed is in Zip-Loc bags and kept inside new from this year as...

Any need to drag harrow my plot?

So, I got one of my plots all disced and packed last week (last Wed. to be exact), waiting for rain this week, which looks like good chance on Wed. and Thurs. to put down seed. With the seed bed already firm and prepped would you take a drag over it beforehand or leave it firm and packed? Just...

    These 2 Bucks related?

I stated in another thread that we clearly have a genetic trait on our farm with tall split brows that is very prevalent. Still waiting on the 200 inch trait.

Best food plot to attract deer?

For a first time I would probably go brassicas just because the cost of seed is so cheap. At the same time, if it is remote and hard to get equipment to might as well put in all the time and work on a perennial like clover because I guarantee once you put in all the time and effort the...

    Question about leasing...

It is clear you have to lease it? Can't just get permission? I hate how everything is leased, or that is always a guys first thought. I am afraid all those nice old farmers will get in on the "lease" madness.

    Brassicas

You are good man, I have 2 weeks off before I start a new job. Not sure what my availability will be after July 20th so just trying to get everything in order. I did get them in a little late last year got flooded shortly after planting and didn't have time afterwards to really get anything...

    Locating new bucks

Pretty spot on, on my farm too. We have one giant that shows up in August each year then he is gone. Almost wish he don't show up this year he will be stupid big....The thing I can't get over on our farm is how much the genetics carry over in our younger bucks. Every year we will have 3-6...

    Brassicas

Well, got one plot ready for brassicas! Was almost tempted to seed with how well the seed bed was. If rain is in the forecast in next couple of days I just may get them in!! Man, I am tired!!! Sorry again pics are always sideways!!

    YETI Coolers

I must be in the minority, but why does everyone need something on ice at all times? My cheap Coleman and styrofoam coolers do just fine from time to time. I agree, I have never got how coolers and the hunting industry every got mixed together, but whatever. I need to now come up with a...

    Brassicas

Lots of guys like the Earthway I believe bag seeders I have went to the solid plastic Solo brand seeder/spreader and love it. A little pricey, but it does a great job with small seed.

    Brassicas

Yes, you can broadcast it just fine with a bag seeder. Like always start with it set barely open. Last thing you want to do is dump lots of seed. All brassicas like space to grow so don't overseed. Also, don't mix your seed or you will again be dumping some out especially if mixed with...
