    Youth season.....doe only?

I think kids should be able to take whatever animal they choose (and preferably the first one that offers a good, clean shot if it is their first deer). I typically have size restrictions at my place for bucks but that gets suspended for kids since we really want them to have a good experience...

    Corn & Soybean repellant

I spray my fruit trees, grapes & sweet corn with a product called "liquid fence" to keep them from reaching inside the fencing and that works well for about 30 days...then needs to be re-applied I would think it would be fairly expensive to try to treat a foodplot though- unless treating the...

    Kid friendly loads for M-loader

My 11 year old daughter shot her first deer during youth season with 80 gr of pyrodex and a 180 hornady sabot. Worked great with very little recoil (I also put a slip on recoil pad on the gun "just in case").

    It's December, what's working??

So far, the corn & beans seem to be the preferred food plots although they are still pawing through the snow for the clover. Turnips/rape have hardly been touched. Deer numbers seem to be down significantly the past couple of years as the corn/bean plots are normally about gone by now - did...

    Buck Forage Oats and Turnips

I have about an acre of turnips (2 varieties + 2 varieties of brassicas) in 2 different plots that have hardly gotten touched. This is the first time I"ve planted them in other than a few in an off-the-shelf mix...unless the demand for them increases here later in the season I doubt I'll be...

How many people have missed a Booner?

2005 Gun season. The buck in my avatar. I passed him in 2004 and had 18 trail cam pics of him in '05 - all at night. Only time I saw him in daylight and blew it. Have not seen him since. On another related note, I almost passed a booner (gross) in '03. That year I was hoping to tag one of...

    Target Animals

This would be my first choice but realistically, there are a couple of others I'd have a hard time passing if they presented an earlier opportunity.
