A lot of it is dependant on county and workload of the CO in that area. Some of it is that people don't call it in and just say that the CO won't do anything without actually making the call to see. There's good CO's and bad CO's for sure, they're all human.
If you call and say "I saw a guy...
The entire set up was purchased early 2012 (sometime March maybe). I've got about 200 rounds through it. It shoots the Hornady Superformance 95gr SST's very well. It's taken a couple deer and an antelope with that round.
I still have the original box for it.
Scope is a $250 scope and the base and rings are $50/each. That would be a total of $800 (plus add in the tax). You are saving over $200 by buying this rifle vs. purchasing everything new.
Completely agreed. Residents ruined the deer population much before any NRLO was even allowed to. It's not like the residents can work together towards a sensible harvest.
I understand what you are saying, but I don't think its a 1-1 correlation. Land isn't exactly free nor cheap at the moment. Sure, you'd maybe have some more land bought up by NR's, but it won't completely ruin the sport Granted both of these are our opinions.
We see your opinion as its posted...
Agreed, the people buying the ammo are the ones making it scarce.
But the other question is where are all the reloading components? Bullets are banged out a million per second practically. Gun powder is a man made substance....aren't these companies rapidly ramping up production to fill...
NRLO not getting tag preference is also a selfish want on the part of residents. So u have both sides of the coin there. Im more worried about deer #s than I am a land owner getting tags to hunt his own land. They aren't hunting public land and probably not letting anyone hunt their land anyhow.
I want to see something specific to public land done. We don't need doe tags valid on public land. There's plenty of hunters willing to use any sex tags on a doe.
What are people doing with all this .22LR ammo? I get that it's good 'training' ammo but people weren't hoarding 20,000 rounds before all this happened. So, what's going on?
I think you are headed in the right direction being that you've scouted some of the areas you could potentially hunt. I really wish our state had a lot more public land available to everyone. Also remember to hunt the pressure, if most people leave the stand at 9AM, hunting 10AM-2PM can be a...
Why do some of these threads need to turn into personal attacks?
We should all be able to voice our opinions and others have differing opinions/debates without resorting to personal attacks. We're all entitled to our beliefs and shouldn't have to defend them more than them being purely beliefs.
There's alot of match ammo available commercially for .308 (or was, before our latest ammo runs). That's why it's so popular in the tactical shooting community. A good resource to check is snipershide.com. It's a goofy name, but theres a wealth of information on the forums over there. You can...
I hunted Wyoming in 2012 for antelope. Even the game warden was helpful and glad we were there. Our first day we spent in an area that wasn't holding any antelope. The game warden who came upon us redirected us and we were on antelope the rest of the trip. We also talked to a few fellow...
I have a pretty small section of public that I'm hunting so my observations are pretty atypical. I had deer around me most of my sits but not large #'s. I would see 1-5 deer per sit. I average 2-3 deer in shooting range per season so I need to make the most of my opportunities. I'd say the peak...
Any expanding ammo that the gun shoots well will work just fine. I personally have good luck with the Hornady Match 168gr AMAX and BTHP loads. They are around $28.00/20 but my rifle (bolt gun) shoots them really well. Scheels in IC has the BTHP rounds as I'm sure the other stores do as well...
If you really think of the logic, we shouldn't allow resident land owners to have more tags if we don't allow NR land owners to hunt their own land every year. I'm not saying I disagree with the law as it's written because it somewhat protects resident land owners and hunters but I can see why...
