I had the same thing happen a year ago. What I did was mow it with brush hog and came to peace with a very weedy plot year 1. Winter came and I frost seeded it.
This spring first cut was with the brush hog but my last two cuts I used a finish mower (only to get ahead of the weeds) and currently...
I tried this last year. Had 20 acres planted in beans, half real world and half whatever the cheapest the local dealer had. Planted at 100lbs per acre.
There was not a single pod left where RR was planted.
Co Op brand was 80% gone but still plenty of pods left come spring.

Tube or cage them. I tried fencing in a 20’x20’ area 6’ tall and peppered them heavily in the enclosed area, thinking surely it’s a small area they wouldn’t jump over to eat these. I was wrong. A weeks worth of hard work down the drain.
