Don't know what's fun about sitting for days on end and not seeing a single doe??? Also not sure where you are driving to see that much(or even close) roadkill??? Rackman, your mentality comes across to me as bordering old school farmer..........kill every last one of 'em................no offense
Numbers r down in general, period. For those that are still seeing good numbers, great. But the poster is right...for the overall conditions in greater iowa. We have a governor who dismisses scientific data from paid professionals, this cannot be a good thing for our sport.
Went out tonight, had no movement until last hour. Out driving around earlier and saw quite a few out in the fields. Had a true giant 20 minutes before dark but never got closer than 200 yards. Don't have a scope on the muzzy yet, new gun......Don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight!
We all need to do the right thing for our areas, this is for sure. It is hard though when ur neighbor gets half the town and decides to hunt with different people each season and harvest any deer that comes his way. My situation was great before he moved in, each year it has declined since...
Agree with SEIowaDeerslayer, couldn't count the number of times I heard guys saying something like "doing my part and killin does, thinnin the herd.....". The same rhetoric you can read in the paper everytime the DNR talks about deer population. Sometimes if you hear it enough you end up...
Out this morning til 1100 hrs. Completely different than yesterday. Cold and not one deer sighting, oh well that's hunting. Still heard shots but not near as much as yesterday.
Deer were not moving much unless pushed. That being said, heard LOTS of shooting all around. Between two of us sitting we saw a total of 20 deer, 0 bucks! Saw way more than normal that's for sure. p.s. on the way out saw 12 deer in a picked bean field standing out in the open, 100 yards from...
Cut bow season off early??? That's blasphemy!!! (spelling?) JK, but seriously you only get one anysex bow tag also. The obvious reason you have a longer season for bow is because it is much more difficult than with any firearm. If you want more time in the field buy extra doe tags. These extra...
The problem is you can just about shoot as many deer as you have money. Unfortunately we are part of the problem. We all share the same passion but some have no concept for passing on deer! "Our" running doe counts are a PRIME example. Some areas need this much of a harvest, but I'm pretty...
Very cool mount. The one we had looked like two perfectly shaped ovals with about two inches of regular tan in between. It almost looked like it was painted on!
Sorry guys, talked with him and he did not save it...I thought that we should have kept it for someone to use but he was in a hurry, had to work. Never seen one up close, pretty neat.
Hey guys, a buddy shot a buck that was nothing to brag about but it had a double throat patch. Should he have caped it out regardless? Or, are they more common than we know? Thanks
Lots of movement tonight, more deer than i've seen in a long time. Big boy with does right at dusk, but lots of chasing and grunting from the smaller bucks. Back out in the A.M. Good luck everyone.
Saw a nice one standing by a doe that was laying down and not moving around 1630 on Sunday afternoon. They were not fifty yards off the blacktop in a picked field, no cover for hundreds of yards, love seeing that. Scott County
Extremely slow here in eastern iowa. Still laughing at spitting on a badger! I have hundreds of trail camera pics up until the last couple of weeks and then almost none!??? I guess that's hunting.
Also thought it was fine.....what's the big deal? Nice pics and good luck this season! I have actually used this stuff and had good results capturing pics with it. I would personally rather give my money to someone local anyways. Only met mississippi mud hunter once but seemed like a decent guy.
