    Drone spraying herbicides…is that done?

I killed and burned some cedars 2.5 years ago. Autumn olives just blew up. I hope to get rid of most of them and they are not easily accessible on foot. I’ve wondered if a drone could be utilized for spraying. I plan on following with a tree planting the following year. Thanks for your thoughts.

What year did you start food plotting?

I think 1995 on property I owned. Small plots but effective. It usually took 2-3 guys most of the day to get it done. First plot was planted in November in Mississippi. For years we only planted wheat. I believe we planted the first Dbltree brassica mix plot in 2008 in Iowa. I’d never heard...

Well done, Skip! You made some excellent points on soil health. I started with 2.8% organic matter on a soil health project on May 1st of this year, and will be monitoring it. Good stuff!

    Here we go again EHD????

I found a buck yesterday in Van Buren County. I had seen him at 15 yards 36 hours earlier apparently healthy other than a small amount of saliva running from one side of his mouth. I’m guessing 4 years old.

    Transporting redneck blind

I’d probably end up having a disaster. I’d be tempted to get a pop-up blind and avoid the risks. I’m not very adventurous at the age of 74. Let us know how your hunt goes. Making memories! Good luck!

    Advice on dam erosion prevention….

My dam has had major work done on it, with lots of dirt moved. I have an old harrow I can use on it. I’d like some advice on what to plant on it. I have some cereal rye, wheat, and Crimson clover. My local go to, Iowa-Missouri Hybrids is temporarily closed. Is there somewhere else I could...

How to increase the number of bucks….

These are a couple of random thoughts with little serious research. Prevent the use of more cross bows. It’s hard to allow greatly increased use of something and then try to take it away. Don’t wait on this. Shorten the deer season….consider starting later, ending earlier, shorten...

Tell me why we should shoot more does

I live in a state that allow cross bows to be used by anyone during archery season. Unless I missed something, a person can hunt depending on the season, with a cross bow and/or rifle. The rut is during gun season. I believe Iowa should keep the toothpaste in the tube.

Tell me why we should shoot more does

Our neighborhood touches base during the year and discuss the availability of food. We all see a good many deer, and lots of deer some days. We usually shoot a few does. We watch our food supply, especially going into January through March.

    Here we go again EHD????

It appears that much of southeast Iowa got some rain this morning. Good for crops and food plots I think. Hopefully it’s good news for any EHD issues.

I wasn’t asking for a delivery. Just wondered if you were ever in the neighborhood. I’ll be up there soon. Need to get a tour of your farm one day!
