I am an owner of all Remington's 870, 887, 1100, and 11/87. I would go semi auto all the way. Better to keep concentration on target for follow up shot. Especially bird hunting. Needless to say I for some reason are more accurate with my autos also.

I would say go 9 mm and look at the Tauras model 92. This is based off the Beretta model 92 and I recently picked one up. 17 rd clips and you can pick one up well worth the money.
