I am looking for frost seed options right now.
This next year my farm I hunt will have corn standing all around where I would like to put food plots. So if I want to do food plots this year I will have to frost seed them.
I already have clover established so i am looking for other options...
I would say it depends totally on how you plan on using them.
If I were just going to get them for bowhunting in the woods I would actually go with the 8.5 X 32. They are very small and light and even though they are 32's the don't differ that much from the 42's in light gathering.
If you...
I've got an 12g 1187 that I bought new when I used to bird hunt alot more.
Once the bird hunting slowed down I put a hastings barrel on it and a nikon scope. I shot the remington core lokt 2 3/4" out of it.
I had a lot of problems though with the thing jamming when i had slugs in it. It...
I personally love the assault, but I am a smaller guy.
If you are going to do a lot of run & gun setups w/ your LW than I would get the assault. You will very much appreciate it if you do alot of them.
They are just so small and easy to put in a tree when you are hanging from one...
Iowa truly is Gods country to me. You simply won't find any better people in the world. Iowans kindness and generosity is second to none. It is simply the best place to grow up, raise a family, and be buried.
We have so many different seasons with each bringing a great sense of joy.
We...
I do like the idea you have timberpig about the higher buck tag and cheaper doe tags. But for us die hards we would see that as a good thing, but to a someone like a father trying to get his son into hunting who will more than likely buy the one anysex tag, i might think that would deter some...
Mornings have been just the opposite for me when it comes to mature bucks.
I have noticed that a lot of the mature bucks that I have been after in the past were not bedded more than 50-100yds away from where they were feeding. I would love to hunt in between bedding and feeding zones in the...
This whole doe killing thing is really starting to worry me as well. Unfortunately the mentality with alot of hunters is shoot as many deer as you can. That mentality will stick with them until they start seeing far less deer.
The point I am trying to make is that people just have killing...
Had a buddy a few years back pass on a super spike in IL on public land. He told me it's the only deer that he regrets not shooting. He said he was a big old mature buck with about 20" spikes like jnrbronc's only 16" bigger.
I wish he was videoing back then.
My dad years back shot a spike...
Obviously anywhere in IA will produce huge 200" deer. Nutrition is pretty much a given anywhere in IA. As far as habitat if a buck doesn't get bothered much he'll live in a small draw in the middle of nowhere and get huge. They don't need much just a low stress life.
But if i had to pick an...
I trust the DNR but in the areas i hunt I don't want to shoot any more does. There really isn't that many deer and the buck to doe ratio in my area i would roughly say is 1-1 or 2 doe-1 buck.
I was just talking to an old timer here the other day and he thinks the deer numbers are back to where...
Uh oh, I might have to try this one out. If I like it the wife might get a late X-mas day present with my mathews XT.
I love my XT but when you have a midget draw like i do (26.5) a little speed doesn't hurt. I'm getting sick of shooting from 30-35yds with my arrow dropping 5-6 inches in...

Probably what you will hear the most of from trail cam guys on this site is to build your own. There is a locked "hombrew 101 forum in the trail cam forum. Quality and price you simply can't get any better than a homebrew.
Market wise i would think the new moultrie's, which would also fit the...
