    Expandable BH Help!

These huge mechanicals were designed for fast setups with launch speeds over 260 fps. They have caught on with turkey hunters because of the large amount of damage they can inflict, but I believe their original purpose was to prevent complete pass-throughs and lost arrows from hi-energy...

    Your First Deer

I was the last in my family to be bitten by the deer hunting bug. I had always been a avid quail hunter and spent my time each fall chasing them with our labs. Eleven years ago things changed. My good friend Tim (Must_Hunt) talked me into buying a used wheel bow for $50 and a 1/2 dz arrows. The...

    Big turkey?

From my experience, anything 25 lbs. and over is a big/heavy gobbler. I have only taken 1 bird larger than 25 lbs. He was also one of the few gobblers I have bagged right at 'flydown'. He weighed a shade under 28 lbs....'bout killed me getting him back to the truck.

    2005 Iowa Deer Classic

A big thanks to everyone involved over the weekend The IW-IBA booth setup was incredible I never stop being impressed with the class shown throughout this site and the people who run it. Chris and Matt, I enjoyed finally getting the chance to talk with you both at the show. Things MUST...

    Reducing passthroughs on birds

I'd recommend switching to a larger cut with your BH. Rocket 4 blade Hammerheads (108 grs/2" cut), or better yet, Rocket Sledgehammer (150 grs/3 1/2" cut). Never heard of a passthrough with a Sledgehammer, and even if there was...he wouldn't go far! Here are my favorites from left to right 1)...

Need some advice from Des Moines familer people

Fairfield Inn is nice, not familiar with the last two? The first two addresses are quite a ways to the west, pretty long cab ride I would imagine (15 min). I guess if it were me I would go with the least expensive, especially if there is a $40 difference. Just north of the intersection of I-235...

    Great book on deer management!

Old Buck, Thanks again for the tip on this book. I received mine a couple days ago and am amazed at the wealth of information it contains. [ QUOTE ] This is great news for individuals who can't afford to buy their own land but are willing to 'chip in' to earn hunting rights on some great...

    Easton A/C Super Slims?

Anyone have any feedback on these? ...or better yet, actually had a chance to shoot them? Looks to me like a potentially great hunting arrow....I may have to dig up another coffee can in the backyard Easton A/C Super Slim

    Flash Shock!

[ QUOTE ] Some deer (does & bucks alike) it really bothers & others don't mind at all. [/ QUOTE ] I would agree with this, and also avoid setting cameras up close to my stands. In 4 years of using cameras, only once have I had multiple pictures taken of the same mature buck at the...

    Insulated boots

CamoMan, if planning to wear these boots on-stand in cold weather I would suggest you buy them 1 1/2 to 2 sizes big. You are not buying these boots for comfort while walking, but rather to stay warm when you are not moving, which generates heat. Your boots should actually be a little loose, so...
