    Transplants

Page back in this thread. He pulls them bare root, sticks in buckets and transplants. Toss a little water in the bucket if they going to sit for a day or two. 1-2 footers, even up to waist height. Gotta pull when the ground is right for it. I have tried 3 times now on 2 different farms, only got...

    Spots in March

Id say ahead since it made it through winter. That's a crazy pic for sure

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

You make a great point on the zones or hunt units. There should certainly be a limit to each zone or area with the NR tag.

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

I don't think they should limit public access in any way, that's a real slippery slope.

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

I don't think people will wait in MO, that's why I think raise the cost and leave it OTC. Jason Sumners from the DNR was on Huntr podcast and it sounded like a hard NO on moving the gun season. I agree it would make a drastic improvement, but not likely to happen.

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

Good point on out West, and I was going to mention that too. The point creep has gotten so bad in a lot of areas that it's out of reach anymore, which isn't a good look either. But there are still some OTC areas if you try hard enough. KS is still pretty good but a fraction of what it was. It's...

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

Change the cost of the MO tag for NR to $500 and only give us 1 buck, not 2. Still leave it unlimited OTC, like it is now. Don't limit when and where we can hunt. Try that for a couple of years and see what happens. Probably would weed out the "casual" NR hunters that come down for a long...

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

For sure. Just too much politics involved with the management, sadly. Hunting has changed so much in the last 20 years, the conservation efforts need to adapt and change with it. That survey misses the mark on a lot of levels, other than raising tag prices being a no brainer IMO. But hey, it is...

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

this makes the most logical sense but they refuse to move the gun season because of pushback from hunters. I say, try it for 3 years and see what happens, can always go back. I bet the age class gets better for all seasons and they never look back.

    Future of CRP

Agreed, I had the same thoughts earlier in this thread. They could easily set a CSR threshold that coincides with a slope rating to keep the high CSR ground and flat seas of grass out of the program.

    New Farm/Blank Slate

I agree, low impact and good access are key on smaller farms. I don't mind buying without seeing it in person if I know the area somewhat and it's priced right.

    New Farm/Blank Slate

Good questions and I honestly haven't set foot on the farm yet. Bought is sight unseen so trees I can't give much response to. Looked like some walnuts and a lot of cedar pockets and hedge from the pictures. The North field is screened OK but I would for sure add 20' row of swtichgrass there to...

    New Farm/Blank Slate

I got a new farm coming in the next month. I've liked how other members have posted their farms up for others to come up with ways to lay it out, so I figured I'd give it a shot on this one to see differing opinions. It's got a few ponds on it and a small running creek. 115 total acres, had a...

    Future of CRP

Maybe putting a slope rating or CSR rating or combination of both on it would work? Then the more poor soil or hilly areas that shouldn't really be row crop anyway would qualify and it would keep the good CSR and flatter ground out of it.

Great video Skip. Where are you buying the rangeland pro mineral? Everyone seems to only want to cary the wind & rain these days and I hear that sucks.

Tis the season for shed poaching!

Man, that is wild. Sure makes you wonder.

    PH drill questions

Not in the same league IMO. I don't own either yet, but I wouldn't buy a tar river based on what I saw when I looked at one. Cheaply made without question, hence the price tag
