The Future of Iowa Deer Hunting and a One Buck Limit

Fair point. I think small increments every year of every other year should just be implemented regardless. cost of living increase type of increase. fully transparency, im a NRLO and would be fine if they doubled the cost of the NR tag. I've said this before. It would be a huge revenue boost...

The Future of Iowa Deer Hunting and a One Buck Limit

I get what you are saying but that's apples/oranges. The owner of the land doesn't own the animals that are on there. Rabbits, deer, turkey, etc. I was more saying from an entertainment side of things, that tags are dirt cheap compared to other forms of entertainment out there, when you break it...

The Future of Iowa Deer Hunting and a One Buck Limit

Kinda my exact point. Movie used to be $5, now it's $15 Bowling used be $1 per game, now it's $3 Rent a pickleball or tennis court for $10/hour I could go on and on. Prices have gone up over time, especially in the last few years. The price of a tag and license is cheap when you break it down to...

The Future of Iowa Deer Hunting and a One Buck Limit

Ok, but what did you pay? I have an idea but I don't want to speculate. IMO, it wasn't that expensive compared to other forms of entertainment. As years go by, everything goes up in price, that's life. They should have been raising prices slowly for years, and nobody would bat an eye.

The Future of Iowa Deer Hunting and a One Buck Limit

Tag prices are too low, across the board and have been there for too long. How much do you consider a "small fortune" to buy 4 deer tags and enjoy the outdoors? Entertainment costs money, not many ways around that.

    Fencing Deer Movement

Most, not all, but most of these high fence operations are MASSIVE acreages. I don't know Europe or Africa really, but a lot of the Texas ranches are true ranches. If you are talking several square miles of land, and those are smaller operations, that's a big difference than having a high fence...

    UTV Spreader

Got a fimco as well. Owned it maybe 5 seasons. It does the job but I would certainly like to upgrade to something nicer. Mine shuts off quite a bit and can make a mess when spreading fertilizer or seed.

    Fencing Deer Movement

I have some experience with a partial high fence from a neighbor. It's certainly installed to deter deer from leaving the farm and going towards a different neighbor that doesn't share the same management views. Even if you only have one side of the farm fenced or even part of it, you are...

    Farm Contract Recommendations

I could be wrong, and that's fine. Maybe my CPA is just less aggressive than yours. I do know CRP is different for sure.

    Farm Contract Recommendations

You might want to delete this Hardwood to get rid of 20 years of evidence. Haha. I don't think this is correct. I agree with IBH1983 on this one.

    Wow Just Wow....... Land Prices

Not arguing. My perspective is around $6K acre for rec ground in N Missouri isn't a softening. There are always exceptions out there where stuff doesn't bring what you think it would others bring way more than you think. Maybe your farm in Harrison would bring $5900, never know. Shop it around...

    Wow Just Wow....... Land Prices

I know of a couple farms in Mercer and one in Worth that sold in the last couple months that all went between $5700-6200/acre. These were good combo hunting type farms. That to me isn't softening. I have also seen some sell for lower prices but were less desirable type farms IMO

    Wow Just Wow....... Land Prices

If you plan to hold it somewhat long term and can afford it, I say buy. If you are looking to try and flip it, I would not pay upper end pricing. I don't think prices are going down much, especially if the economy takes back off in the coming years

    God has blessed America.

I don't think that's what happened. Roberts somewhat rushed the oath before the family was even around him, IMO. Trump has talk about God in his speeches while the other side has straight abolished it.

2025-26 deer season change wish list

I agree. I think a floating tag is dangerous for that reason. You can pick all the good times to hunt because you know you have a ton of season for that tag. Guys would jump out for early muzz if the weather was good, when previously maybe they wouldn't even have a tag for it.
