    Land prices / insane!!!

This 72 csr2 Ringgold Co field is up to $275 in a cash rent auction.

    Beans and corn together

Even if your corn has sat in the hot shed the past couple years, likely it's still good. But I'd test it anyway, just so you're not out a bunch of time and effort.

    Land prices / insane!!!

My opinion, over here in my part of Class A+ IL soils, is that most farms are bought with loans. With 15-20K sales, the only ones that aren't are random 1031 exchanges.

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

    Acuron here too.

    Land prices / insane!!!

That's an interesting point, but my first thought was, who will buy their up north farms void of nearly all wildlife other than wolves? Most people would have to sell in order to relocate.

The other side of the argument

Yes, as well all know most farmers have a strong dislike of deer. I just thought that thread hit if from a different angle this time, showing the loss of human life and well being, primarily, and financial loss through wrecked cars. Around here, most the farmers who own timber or rougher...

The other side of the argument

Reviving an old thread I stumbled upon. I read on the ag forums occasionally also. Here was a thread from a few weeks ago, discussing auto collisions with deer. https://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1144903&posts=35&highlight=deer%20&highlightmode=1#M10579765

Coyote dogs and Private Land Deer Hunting.

Over a half mile away? Granted we have smaller farms over here in IL but that stuff doesn't fly anymore. Dogs aren't allowed on our farm.

How many contiguous acres is their farm now?

    Meat Locker lost my Antlers

Yep, bad reviews can go a long way. I was also thinking to offer the reward at their store's bulletin board, if that bridge wasn't burned yet. Looks like they're a brand new meat locker. They probably can't afford to be blasted with bad reviews and a reputation of being thieves. I'm sure...

Mature bucks piling in with cold spell

Great deer! What foods are they coming in for?

    Brutal weather coming

I went heavy on the turnips this year, just for this scenario. Hope they can paw down to them.

How bad are autumn olive and honeysuckle?

I stopped being that guy some years ago because it doesn't go over well on these forums. We've been buried in the crap for decades. Maybe someday a new version of me will try to take it on, but we honestly have millions upon millions of the BHS plants, as do all the neighbors. Although I hate...

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

The idea behind that is the outside row effect. Outside 1st row of corn next to the beans yields x% more than the others, multiplied across all those extra passes across the field. The 2nd row next to the 1st row, next to the bean pass, yields less than that 1st row but more than the further...

    Cold Feet

Another vote for Arctic Shield boot covers. Best if you can try them on at the store so you know for sure they'll fit easily over your hunting boot. Or you may have to return them. Also, don't forget to take them off after getting out of your stand.

    High grading bucks

At times I feel I own a higher share of a buck than the fenceline sitting neighbors who seem to always need to recover the deer on my side.

Cost of a shoulder mount in IA?

Took 1 to our guy over here. He's at $850 now. I've heard of others in the $800 range and several somewhat less than that. The way it's going it'll all be euro mounts eventually.

    Switchgrass

Never quite seen it done like that. How does a guy go about accomplishing that type of establishment? Just be nimble on an atv sprayer?

    400 legend

My plan is to upgrade my soon to be 12 yr old into the 400 legend and then the 350 will be the starter gun for the next in line - my 10, 9, & 6. Really liked shooting my 450 on the range. Planning to kill a deer or 2 with it in our late seasons.
