They should be able to get you in touch with teams that play in Burlington. Some of the better teams in the state are from the Waterloo area. Some good ball is played in Burlington too.
This has been my experience as well. Once I started using motion with my strutter decoy my success rate went way up. I'm pulling birds from across fields. That's fun to watch for sure.
I made up a pretty basic motion stake for my strutter a couple years ago it worked fine, not the most practical but it worked and I definitely think motion helps. I bought an Avian X lifeline 360 stake the other day seems to be exactly what I wanted to make but wasn't smart enough to do. I...
In the past I've always shot fixed blade heads and just shot through the mesh on my blind. This year I'm going to a mechanical and my buddy is shooting Bullheads, and we want to try some videoing. So I won't be using the mesh. My question is are we going to have to be any more careful with...
I know during the bobcat study they tested stomach contents of cats that were turned in. There wasn't a large number of turkey feathers found in the stomachs but during the time of year when they are turned in the birds are fairly old and can fly. Right after hatching turkey poults are more...
I got started hunting rabbits, pheasants, and squirrels at around 7 or 8. I was not allowed to go deer hunting with dads group until I was 14. I shot my first deer that year and was hooked. I bought my first bow when I was 16 and learned most stuff on my own and a little bit from magazines...
I'll probably just use the bags they came with and put them in my decoy bag for carrying. It's not that big of a deal and I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Liv,
The pillowcase idea sounds like a good one to me I think the wife actually has some old brown pillow cases lying around that I'm sure she won't miss ;)
I just picked up a couple DSD's today. You guys that use them do you always carry them in their individual sacks or just put them in a decoy bag with your other decoys. I know it says in the instructions to always use the bags but if they're durable enough to just toss in the decoy bag with my...
I have a Scheel's Boondocks blind, and love it going on three years now never an issue, it has basically the same window setup as the Darkhorse. When I bought it (on sale for $225) it was considerably cheaper than the Darkhorse and I'd be shocked if the DB was enough better than it to justify an...
I guess I would be all for it. We have a group around me that hunts the late muzzy season with hand guns, a lot use the semi auto and a lot of them shoot them out the window. I guess it probably won't make any difference they'll just go buy a different hand gun and continue chasing them with...
I've had great luck with a strutting decoy with a jake tailfan. Before getting a jake tail I had birds skirt, every once in awhile, but now that I've been using the jake fan it's been about automatic.
