Take the time to spray. Mulch is a depends who you talk to option. I say no mulch because it likes to introduce bugs and other pests and even bacteria. And eventually breaks down. Only benefit, seems to slow down drying out of ground but that can create too much moisture all the time.
I actually use a 60 gal SS tank with a boomless sprayer that fits in the hitch on my ranger. Just did 3 acres with it.
Sorry you had issues with it. I agree though, seems they went down hill 6-9 yrs ago when the original family were bought out.
I can understand the bulkiness of the 3 pt though.
It is attractive but it worth it as they put too many stipulations on the planting itself. My guy was nice and told me when he was going to come "check" on the planting.
Id rather do a cost share and not have a constant check.
To start it was 50/50 cost share and 150per acre...now it's...
What's wrong with your SS unit? Mine is boomless but has the nosels to make it a 48" width or around 8'.
It may just have cheap hoses on it. Tried swapping them out.
Lot of guys use Femco around me and in NW Iowa is big in DEMCO sprayers and they are good IMO.
I would not do it again. I would just plant 250 trees here and there for a few years. And buy bare root seedlings as I could. If I were you I'd get some trees planted on exterior, close some it in with a 2-3-4 acre plot in middle.
As above said. Lots of maintenance and hope you maintain the percentages of loss on those tree programs. Which I suspect you aren't watering all those trees. And I have gotten less and less money as contract is extended so I just decided it wasn't worth government having a finger on my farm for...
If I may ask did you rent a excavator or hire it out? And if so since I'm in the area, who? I need to do a few ponds as my neighbor is an idiot and liked to farm 45 degree slopes. I'm thankful for the free top soil. But pissed that I can't charge him to clean out my ponds.
And in our area...
I honestly prefer euro mounts now. $100 bucks and the memories are still there. And they look waaaaay bigger without a form fitted to them and they are a lot more sought after as well.
Yes you can tell a difference. But I had to look elsewhere, been going to the $900 guy for 20 years and he has to be close to retiring. Definitely prefer him over others. Started going to him at $550.
$750 team just doesn't put the detail in, ask for photos, field measurements. The "form"...
Depends where you go. My 2 i paid $900 one place (guy only does 50 a year plus his regular customers) and $750 for the more "commercial" set up. (They do hundreds of mounts a year.)
