You say that is crazy, but I worked for Ted Turner on Vermejo Park Ranch in New Mexico. We had a whole Natural Resources Department with foresters and fisheries and wildlife biologists. Almost 600,000 acres (920 square miles). Managed for mature bull elk and an overall healthy herd. We hunted...
Let’s be honest. If I run cell cams, kill a nice deer and later check the pics and see I got a pic of him that day? All those cams getting pulled and tossed in the creek. [emoji23]

Get some black paint because every hen that sees it will peck her eyes. They are soooo real. I have left my Jake decoy to stalk a turkey and ended up stalking my Jake when I returned more than once. Fooled myself. [emoji23]

I did. P and K are both way above optimal. N was recommended at 120lbs/acre. He knows it is for a food plot and there is no expectation of 200 bu. corn.
Alright, before I look like an idiot I want to run these numbers by you guys. I am planting 3.25 acres of corn. Extension agent said for my purposes 120 lbs. N/acre should do. COOP sells 21-0-0-24S for $440/ton plus $28.50/ton to rent the spreader cart. So the math says 2000lbs x 21%= 420lbs...
When I find what I think is an EHD kill, they are usually early season and not polished like that one appears. Either way it is unfortunate, but glad you found him.

I think the neighbor put that down last year. I was shed hunting a herd-to-reach field and saw fertilizer I didn't recognize. Field ended up in corn, so it must have been that.
I need some help determining timing for my first attempt at corn this year. I had a soil test done and the P&K are at good levels. Obviously I need to put down a substantial amount of N at some point. Plot is currently in soybean stubble. I broadcast a variety of seed over it last fall, but due...
This right here. Imagine if any of us got blasted in the top of the spine. Would we be walking slowly anywhere? [emoji23] Animals are amazing.

Not sure if you are into podcasts, but the latest HUNTR podcast had the chair of the Ohio Game Commission on and he discussed just that. He thought it would be great for the gene pool since it is non-selective and would take out the weakest animals regardless of antler size or potential. His...
Terrible picture of a picture, but this dude was a mutant! Killed him the year after this pic and had his teeth sent in. 8.5 when I killed him, so 7.5 here.
