Pretty much bare. The area was previously brome which I mowed and then killed last fall. A little residue, but you could see a lot of bare soil. Thing is, you can still see a lot of bare soil. It seems nothing is growing. I wrote earlier that I put down 4qt/acre of simazine. That was incorrect...
Awesome! I put down 120 lbs N when I planted. The agronomist knew this was a food plot, so he didn’t recommend super high. Now that my pop is so high should I add more?

My spacing averages around 5”, maybe just under by a shade if anything. So definitely over 40,000. Now with my one row not working I had to adjust and overlap it every other turn. That is more like a 36” row. We’ll see what happens!

I need to mark this. I may not be as thick as I think. I am going to be measuring some farmers fields near me on the way home and doing a little figuring. :D
Do you know what your seed spacing is at 32,000? I'm curious to estimate what my population really is. If you are on 30" rows as well, I could use the chart to see where I am at.
I did get new tires for it and they look different than the originals, but are at least similar in size. Could that have that much effect? Other than that everything "looks" like the parts diagram anyway. I'll try the drag it method. I have a year to get it figured out at least. :D
I do have a question though. If you zoom in, you can see that it is planted too thick on the end rows. I have looked at several planter manuals and the charts are the same. I set the sprockets at 22 Driver and 22 Driven. This should result in a population of 26,100 with approximate seed spacing...
Well, my newly renovated 4 row JD 7000 had one row go kaput, but I identified it early and adjusted. 2” of rain Sunday night and highs in the 80’s this week with sun ought to make this field really pop! Better than I hoped for considering it was my first time. [emoji2]

This here. As a Kansas Resident, this is gonna push out so many resident hunters. I wish Kansas would go back to not guaranteeing a NRLO a tag every year. It is killing us. Too many guys I know have been pushed out of the game and aren't coming back. This is part of the reason hunter numbers are...
I put down Acuron today. I shook it up first. That stuff looks, smells, and even sounds like it’s gonna kill stuff. Like a light green spoiled milkshake…

I sprayed some bind weed in the driveway a little over a week ago with 2-4d. They look bad, but those suckers look like they wanna hang on. [emoji23] I hate that stuff…

I went down and found no evidence of switch germination and thought I could cross the creek so I went for it. 4 quarts/acre of Simazine down. I’ll get some Duracor on order for later this summer if I need it.

I had broadcast switch earlier this spring and intended to hit it with Simazine before green up. With the rains and the location of this particular field, I haven’t been able to spray yet. Is there a drop dead date (or more likely development stage) after which you shouldn’t spray Simazine on...
