I go every year but I just don't think I can bring myself to listen to Outdoors Dan. Think I'm taking a year off. Good to see it moved back to Deer Classic weekend though.
I had a broken tine repaired by Dave Jones of Jones Brothers Taxidermy in Mitchellville. They did a great job and you would never be able to tell which tine was reconstructed.
Yes, the porting can.make things a lot louder. I did notice that a friend of mine was wearing a set of electronic hearing protection muff this year when we hunted together. He said that he enjoyed them because they amplify the ambient sounds and let him hear better while cancelling out the...
Sorry to hear you didn’t get a deer but glad you got out and gave it your all.
I think next year I would try first season. Yes it's shorter but the deer haven't been shot at yet and are still moving around more. Second season after being chased around and shot at for 5 days then hide out a lot...
You make it sound like a howitzer.
Honestly I don't see how it could be any more deadly than a muzzle loader shooting the same bullet at nearly the same velocity or a 3" shotgun slug flinging a 385 grain saboted slug at 1900fps+. Any of the three kills them just as dead.
I have to wonder if this wasn't some random act of violence but in fact somebody who was targeting him specifically. I would not be surprised if it is determined the killer is someone who knew him.
Holy moses! I thought the buck I shot had pretty nice brow tines but that buck of yours is in a whole different category!
Congratulations that is a hell of a season. I'm glad you're on my team!
I could see it appearing like a bash fest. It's easy to be critical of the IBA but I think that comes more of a place of frustration. I think the leadership of the IBA has been pretty slow to adapt and hasn't been very effective at promoting the IBA to new members.
I go to the banquet every...
Good thoughts. Definitely would help to have some mounts to draw people in and some friendly outgoing people to engage in conversation and yes sell people on thE IBA.
In the past I have seen times when there hasn't been anybody at the booth and times where there might be someone there but they...
Slightly off topic but the IBA booth is generally pretty boring, a table and a banner. I would be surprised if it attracted much interest and would like to know how many new members are signed up at the Classic any given year.
