I have some acres I put into CP33. I just got a letter that I have to do mid contract management which includes discing it 2 times. This must be done before may 15th. For those of you who have experience with this I have some questions.
When they say disc two times does that mean go over it...
I agree about moving the banquet but I would go later rather than earlier. Take advantage of the huge influx of hunters at the deer classic and SELL TICKETS there! Plus you avoid some of the crappy weather that can affect attendance.
I agree that the IBA logo is in need of a change. It is...
Some questions for you board members.
I'm curious why you have decided to have the banquet on a different weekend than the deer classic? Seems like a lot of people who live further from Des Moines wouldn't want to make the drive two weekends in a row. Some of us with young kids find it hard to...
I find it interesting that a forum like this filled with hard core Iowa deer hunters and it seems the membership in the Iowa Bowhunters Association is very low and attendance of the spring banquet is extremely low.
I seriously have concerns about the future of the IBA. Seems like the membership...
I planted some peach and plum trees as well. Probably not a draw for deer but more for personal use. Anybody plant these and how well have they done for you?
I've got about 20 trees that I have planted the last two years. Hoping to add a few more each year.
Yes, I put it down to keep the weeds down.
I have one of those root feeders, the kind you hook to your garden hose and put the fertilizer in the chamber and poke the prod onto the ground and it waters and fertilizes. Unfortunately too far from a spigot. I have thought about getting a water...
I have planted several fruit trees (apple, pear, etc.). I put heavy duty landscape fabric around them and then some stone over the fabric. My question is if I apply fertilizer over the top of the fabric and rocks is it going to eventually leach through to the roots when it rains?
I usually use...
My buddy bought 3 of their dvds at the Deer Classic this year. He gave me one to watch. Honestly I didn't care for it at all. Maybe it was just one bad one but in no way would I consider it hard core hunting.
The one he gave me is called Calm Before the Storm. Lot of calm, not much storm.
Sad thing is I bet that farmer didn't let anybody hunt his land. That or leased it out to a small group that hunted for bucks and might have shot a handful of does.
I bought the Savage. They did do another production run a couple of years ago.
Need to play with some more load combinations. So far my old Knight Rifles Bighorn is more accurate for me. Do have to love the convenience of smokeless powder though.
Well if you look at it that way the landowner still owns all of the land including those parts of it so of course they could hunt it. The question is does a tenant whose contract specifically states they are renting 10 acres have the right to hunt the entire 100 acre parcel or just the ten they...
This doesn't really make sense. Deer that scatter don't permanently leave their home range and since most of the breeding is already done they will have months to regroup and return to their normal activity.
I have a stand within about 10 yards of my property line. I have lanes cut on my side and lanes cut so that if they cross the fence I have a shot. I don't have any lanes to the neighbors property.
Just a short distance down the property line somebody has a ladder stand set up right on the...
