    Rifles for Iowas gun seasons

Don't blur the lines. Every farmer I know wouldn't care if you used napalm to deer hunt, as long as you killed as many as you see. I own a combination of rec and ag ground, and live on the property, not that it is any of your business.

Landowners don't seem to have an issue with rifles being used to hunt coyotes.

I'm a conservative, that owns his own hunting property, that believes the real threat to hunting quality and equality is close minded people like you. I'm not encouraging using tanks and artillery to hunt deer. I'm supporting the opportunity for others to use pistol ammo in a rifle format.

I personally will not be taking advantage of this. I have no need to use these rounds. But, unlike you I'm not self serving and have no issue with others being able to.

Well said. Those are some of the points I was trying to make yesterday. I've lived within a short drive of the Mississippi river my whole life, and have worked in towns along the river in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois for the past 20+ years. During that time I've met hundreds of guys from...

Did you do anything other than post it here? Call them out on it.

I fully understand why you are opposed, but it is based on speculation and fear. Not facts. We cannot compare other states to ours. Over all regulations and habitats, numbers of hunters, and/or their battles with CWD creates different situations. The fact is, nobody on this site knows what...

    Rifles for Iowas gun seasons

You all do realize that a majority, if not all, of your concerns with using rifles in Iowa would be a non-issue if the state did away with party hunting.

    Rifles for Iowas gun seasons

My point is, you are skipping right from straight wall rounds to crimped rounds in all of your arguments based on a "gut feeling" that this is what will happen. Don't get me wrong, you make some great points and I admire your passion and concern for the future of hunting in Iowa. Right now...

Is party hunting allowed during these rifle seasons? I agree with the concern for safety if we start using 800 yard weapons in Iowa.

When I say "their" deer, I'm referencing those that feel as though certain deer belong to them and only them, and are genuinely pissed if they are harvested by anyone else. There is always room for improvement with current regulations. I've spoken with many that feel the same way. Shooting...

I don't suffer from paranoia, so that would be a no.

I have a feeling that tinfoil sales are going to surpass the sales of new rifles in pistol calibers in the next year.

With that mentality we might as well just go back to traditional bows and flintlocks. "If you can't get one with either of those, go to the grocery store and buy a vegan burger you sissy" I still have not heard one logical explanation on how rifles will ruin our deer hunting. All I've heard...

    Rifles for Iowas gun seasons

What's wrong with the muzzy seasons? They seem like a good fit. Also, I'm having a hard time understanding the mentality that IF (let's keep in mind, that's a big IF) the flood gates suddenly open up to all centerfire rounds for deer, there will be a new season just for rifle. The logical...

Did you take advantage of that perfect teaching opportunity to explain to them the danger in that statement?

    Rifles for Iowas gun seasons

The only change I would expect to see is 30-40% of the people that party hunt during the gun seasons no longer hunting deer at all. Maybe a few of the ones that still hunt would switch weapons, but I bet most will just stand hunt.

Likewise, I'm not buying the argument that straight wall rifle ammo is the gateway drug to guys using .223 AR's with 30 round mags lighting up the woods during a one month rifle only season from October 20th to November 20th.

Well said. I think there are many that would agree with you, but are afraid to say so.

Abused how? *edit: And while it may not recruit more, it may help to keep more of them interested. Either way it's a win in the long run.
