Fact of the matter is hunters are the last line of defense. We don't have to fill every tag they issue. Its nobody's fault but the hunters if we kill the population into very low numbers. Would it be nice to have more help from those in charge, yes but we control how many we kill, not the...
LMAO at SOME of you clowns. If I simply posed the question there would have been all kinds of helpful answers, just because I tie it to someones harvest video it becomes all bad. I was very clear in my original post that it didn't help in taking the deer.
Didn't seem to bother those that...
Absolutely. Not trying to diminish a great hunt in any way. My wife often has wanted to film late muzzy hunts and I was curious about her wearing orange in the blind as well.
Never hunted with a video partner so I was wondering do cameraman filming a hunt need to wear hunters orange? I would assume they do. Surprised when watching the amazing video on Trophypursuit of the huge non-typical that the cameraman didn't have blaze on. Possibly just some "extra" scenes...
I have a Frontier 60". Durable and works awesome but is slow on the bigger plots (over 1/2 acre) This year I'm going to mount a spring loaded cultipacker behind it. Tilling is great but the bed is quite soft when done. Generally I'll let it settle some and even like a soft rain before I...
I realize that EHD is not spread deer to deer but I wonder if the properties with stagnant standing water where the midge's, gnats and mosquito's breed more prevalent have a bigger problem than properties with free flowing rivers, streams and springs. I only have standing water on wet years and...
I've heard rumors of a very large bow kill buck in my county (Dubuque) near the Monastery West of Dubuque. Take if for what you will as I've not got any more information than that. "Heard" it was in the 260 range.
Guy who works for me had this trespassing incident last year.
Their group was hunting a farm they had for 20+ years and came across some guys when they were going to hunt. Asked who they were and one guy introduced himself then immediately went into a whole story on how they've been hunting...
Please don't take this the wrong way but the deer in the pic is not a booner.
Land value is in the eye of the beholder. I recently paid what I thought was maybe $500-$1000 more per acre for 93 acres of good timber. It bordered my ground and I knew once sold I'd likely never get another...
Might be how your shouldering the gun. If it doesn't fit you right it won't "hit" where you think you are aiming. Possibly try a cheek pad to bring your line of sight up. Lots of info on the web regarding shotgun fit.
Have you shot bird shot thru it? Does it pattern high?
Last resort a red...
Great post. I'll be standing approx 100 yards from my neighbors ground (in mine) Saturday morning.
Shooting from a ditch is wrong. Legal or not the landowner pays taxes to the center of the road. IMHO any hunting or trapping in ditches should come after getting permission.
I slug and bow hunt and I can tell you the only reason there are more stories about slug hunters trespassing is there simply that many more of them. I have a couple guys bow hunting my neighbors ground that can't seem to stay out of mine. Followed a guys tracks from his stand well into mine...
