    Long night ahead...self medication underway

Sorry to hear that, probably heard this already, but watch for crows or turkey vultures. Shot a doe during MZ season, went back to retrieve rattling antlers I'd left in tree and there were no less than a dozen crows working over what was left of the gut pile.

    Hunting big open timber.

Walk the fenceline and find the major crossing/s then go back about 75 yards and set up. Would give you a place to start, especially where it adjoins any crop ground or hayfield.

Someone tell me Im not crazy

Look at that spindly butt, no way he's carrying the heavy body of an older deer. I'm not one to tell other people when to shoot or not to, it's a personal decision, and I don't know your situation. If he lives he'll have more mass, tine length and bigger body. Plus, if I'm you I'm hoping he's...

Beretta Pintail Slug Barrel For Sale

Yes they definitely make them and I forgot to add that it comes with a separate black synthetic forearm due to the larger profile of the slug barrel. Dropping the price to $280.

    Owning your own property/farm

If the fence is run-down and non-existant in places, a new one would help define the boundaries and let them know someone is watching, otherwise not much stopping someone who wants to cause trouble.

    Owning your own property/farm

Kinda ballsy with the stands and the minerals, some people are just plain stupid. I used to enjoy reading stories in magazines about Iowa bucks 10 years ago, now I cringe, because it encourages a whole new batch of poachers.

    Hunting the rain?

Not too mention, might limit your competition out there when others are sitting it out at home.

    I pooped my pants.

Rolaids and TP, try to plug 'er up when you get the urge, resort to the second roll when necessary. The worst is gambling and doing the cramped duck waddle back to the truck. Nothing wrong with leaves and grass in a pinch.

    have to vent

Tough area up there unless you can put a treestand on a terrace, it's called $10K/acre land and $500-600 rent. Not sure what kind of dirt work you're doing, but if you're like others you've been tearing out trees by the hundreds. Little Sioux River bottoms is about all you have left. Drive an...

    have to vent

Not sure where you're hunting up here, close to S.City? I may be able to offer some assistance if you want it. You should be seeing deer even if it's little 6's and does. Not encouraging fence sitting, but get to the farthest back boundary of the property and see how much company you have.

    I had enough

A little friendly disagreement makes for interesting dicsussion. New/potential legislation and winter weather would have to be contributors this time of year. It's a matter of perspective and in the end it's as CamoMan summed it up, there are more important things in life and unfortunately...

    It's not all flat here

All the guys from So.IA and MO. are jealous...we know what they're thinking...Looks like about a half dozen good fence posts laying there... Around here there would be a tiling machine sitting there ready to tear it up...at $4K an acre not much left for wildlife
