Agree with Lyon. Otherwise, you could of used a breeding grunt to try to sway him away from the doe. It's a slow, low, long, drawn out grunt. Question: Were you using a 'can' call bleat or grunt tube with a bleat option?

^ Yep, most definitely, Mike! That's why we pack a lunch, get up at the time we do to go to our hunting spot and sit for the amount of time, in all types of weather - to the point where people think we're crazy and say no deer is worth all that.

I have a HS Supertalker, which hadn't much of a problem with it freezing but opted and always gotten better response from the buck roar. I've heard really good things, though, about the original true talker and probably the newer talker line.
